After what seemed to be the longest 4 weeks in our lives, the day finally came yesterday for our 3rd ultra sound - the gender and anatomical check. For some reason, I made myself nervous all day only to find out that everything is checking out perfectly for the babies so far.
Our ultrasound lasted an hour and fifteen minutes but I would have been happy sitting there all night, watching the babies. The nurse was so thorough, taking measurements of over 60 body parts. It was pretty amazing to see how developed the babies have become over the last 2 months since our last ultrasound. I sat there in awe the entire time, totally amazed. The nurse initially checked for two heart beats... phew... Then she started to do a general assessment of the placenta and gave us a few glimpses of the babies. Mike had a better view than I, and he was plastered to the screen, trying to see if he could find anything that would give him a clue about the gender. Mike commented that he thought he saw the goods to make him believe it was boys but the nurse waited about 5 minutes before confirming that "daddy" was right! Technically mommy was right, as daddy was guessing girls and mommy's gut said it was boys.
Baby A is 9 oz with a heart rate of 142. Baby B was described by the nurse yesterday as "fiesty," weighing 11 oz with a heart rate of 134. The nurse didn't have any concerns about the weight variance as she explained that variance of up to 20% is okay. We were very entertained to watch as Baby B continually managed to get into each picture and measurement that the nurse was taking of Baby A yesterday. Baby B also proceeded to kick Baby A in the head again and again. If you look closely at the picture of Baby A, you will see a floating foot at the top of Baby A's head.... trouble maker! I guess this is just the beginning of what little boys are all about! We are thrilled although I do have to admit that I came to the realization yesterday that I am soon going to be out numbered 3 to 1! Time to starting planning the rest of our families which we hope will someday include at least one little princess :)
In taking our last polls, all girls surveyed guessed boys so I guess women know best and surprisingly enough, all boys that we surveyed guessed girls, with the exception of Juliet who was convinced it was girls. I was thrilled that the nurse explained why I may not be feeling too much movement yet. She said that the placenta was positioned so that it is thicker by baby A right now so there is a lot more material for the movement to have to get through before I would feel any movement. Baby B is currently positioned facing my back so kicks would be directed toward my back rather than my belly, but that is all subject to change at any time.
We are so thrilled and thank everyone again for their thoughts and prayers. Our next big step is deciding on names... which we plan to keep a secret until their arrival. We are definitely open to any and all suggestions so please feel free to reply to this post and let us know what you think! And no dad, sorry but Chester and Stanley are not currently up for consideration :) We love you all!

Love the Lockes :) xoxo
I thought of some suggestions for names... I can see you and Mike picking nice traditional names... so, my suggestions are Alexander for baby A, and Benjamin for Baby B. Then you can just tattoo them both with an "A" or a "B" and you will never get them confused! And they both have super cute shortened nicknames... xoxoxox
How wonderful!!! Two little boys! Ahhhh!!! I am just so excited for both of you or four of you WOW! :-)
You look amazing Beth and the pregnancy glow brightens up your office, always a pleasure to visit you! I'll keep you in my prayers as the crazy time is yet to come ha-ha Good Luck and keep us all posted!-Joanna
