As always, Mike and I are so in love with our boys which makes everything in life seem so much easier. We have had a good, busy week and even despite all of the continued rain, we have enjoyed it! Monday night, Mike watched the boys while I spent some time cleaning and doing some meal prep for a dinner that we hosted at our house last night with some friends. We had a great time visiting and it was nice to have everything ready ahead so that I didn't have to run around like a nut the day of.
Still no word about being chosen to volunteer for Extreme Home Makeover. We drove by the street again today to see if we could see anything but were unsuccessful. I am giving up hope but excited about being able to hopefully participate in the excitement of the events on Sunday when the family comes home to be greeted by the crowd. I am pretty confident that I am crazy for thinking about battling the crowds with Mike, the boys and my friend Kym but at the same time, this is a once in a lifetime chance....
Yesterday Mike got out to play a round of golf with a group that is a potential work opportunity and found out later in the afternoon that he got laid off from AIG effective immediately. AIG is shutting down the entire Hartford Office. This news is good and bad. Good because we finally have closure on this chapter of our life which we have been waiting on for months now. Bad because like everyone else, we still have a mortgage to pay and two additional mouths to feed. Thankfully Mike spent some time over the past few months researching other opportunties and is hopeful that something will work out soon. If all else fails, the babies have volunteered to star on our own version of Full House, replacing the Olsen twins with the Hopkins twins and Uncle Jesse with Auntie Laura as she moves in this Sunday! Again, another surprise that Auntie Laura didn't realize she was signing up for!
Today the boys had their 4 month check ups. They did great despite the dose of shots they were subjected to! Chris weights 11 pounds, 9 oz and is in the 20th% for weight. Aiden weighs 12 pounds, 11 oz and is in the 50th% for weight. Can you guess who's stealing all of the milk? Both boys are 23 1/2 inches long which puts them in the 50th%. Dr. Hoberman said they are doing great and are right on target... who could ask for better news! Mike and I were thrilled to have our afternoon go much smoother than we were anticipating. After the first set of shots we were expecting a fussy afternoon. The boys were troopers and although you could tell they were uncomfortable, wimpering from time to time, they did awesome. Poor Aiden has a bit of a fever and wanted to snuggle all day and of course, who can resist that kind of request!
That sums up our week so far. We are keeping our hopes high and smiles on our face as we realize that although the job news may not be great, we are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and such amazing, supportive friends!
