Here Comes The Sun!!!!

And I thought time was flying by before this week.... Mikes job is going great! He started Monday and so began the start of a new routine for our entire family. The boys and I had a great day together and managed to stay busy all day. I am working on trying to structure our days a bit more so that we can get into a good routine. Yesterday my day started at 4:30 am to allow enough time to pump (for an hour!) and get myself ready to leave for work by 6 am.... My how my life has changed! Last year at this time, I was exercising from 5:30-6:30 am then leaving for work by 7. I guess its a good thing that I have always been a morning person! Grammie Hopkins spent the day with the boys and said everything went well. They seemed to have a great day and even saved some smiles for me when I got home. Work went well for me yesterday. I missed Aiden and Chris like crazy and found myself looking at the clock, guessing what they were doing at home at that time. Thankfully there was plenty to do so staying busy made the day fly by. I was sad to have only a half hour with them before they went to bed last night. I do have to admit that it was SO great knowing that they were with someone that loved them as much as I do. I think that if I was dropping them off at daycare, I wouldn't have slept the night before! And for me, yesterday was my Monday and my Friday at work... first and last day of the work week - who could ask for more!

On a random note, guess who I saw at Stop & Shop on Monday night? A real pirate! Even though I had to laugh to myself, it was not joke! It was a middle aged man, out with his wife for a lovely night at Stop & Shop. He had a real hat, big black boots, the notorious eye patch and some kind of loin cloth/skirt thing. Never a dull moment! Who knew about the sites and sounds of good old CT?!?

Tonight Mike and I enjoyed a night out at Max's Tavern to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Uncle Dan and Auntie Laura graciously volunteered to tag team the boys to give us the night out. We had an awesome dinner and of course couldn't resist Cold Stone Creamery for dessert! What a treat! Dan and Laura did great and the boys survived too, haha :)

Since Aiden & Chris came 6 weeks early and spent some time in the NICU, I recently read about Efant, a new vision screening that can be done on babies as young as 6 months old. Typically routine eye exams begin around 3-4 years of age and according to the AAP, vision disabilites are the fourth most common disability among children in the U.S, who knew. The Enfant uses technology called Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), which evaluates the child’s response to an external stimulus along the entire visual pathway from the lens of the eye to the visual cortex of the brain. The Enfant system allows testing of much younger children, since it does not require a response from the patient. When we brought Aiden & Chris for their eye exams it killed me to see how the exams were performed. They dilated the babies eyes then pulled out a barbric device and proped their eyes open. With this new screening, no dilation is required and they use child-friendly animated characters and graphics accompanied by music to capture the babies interest. Sounds pretty good, huh? I think I might check it out for our next eye exam! Here's the website in case anyone is interested in more info! www.enfantvision.com If anyone knows anything about it, I would be curious to hear since it is something new on the rise now!

Aiden and Chris continue on their healthy, happy day to day routines. They are rolling from their bellies to their backs pretty regularly now and love to lay on their sides. Since they hate being on their stomaches, they won't ever roll back to stomach but they are definitely still little busy bodies. Drool is the latest and greatest with everything in site going into their mouths! The week continues to fly by and we are LOVING this sunshine... bring it on!!!
