The hale on our back deck during yesterdays storm. Yes, it was 78 degrees and our deck was covered with hale! The boys were pretty excited though!
The past few weeks have been very exciting, bringing the arrivals of several new babies! Our friends Heather and Mike Chotkowski welcomed Harper 4 weeks ago and welcomed their first niece, Samantha, this past Friday. Our friends Kym and Ross Sylvestre welcomed their first baby boy, Connor Martin last night and our friends Jeff and Karen Ryan welcomed their first baby girl, Emme early this morning. Babies, babies everywhere! Looks like baby fever has hit! I am so excited to enjoy the newest additions to our friends families! Welcome little ones and congrats to all of the new Mommies and Daddies! We can't wait to meet you!!!
The summer is the best! It is so nice to be able to walk around, bare foot and wearing only one layer. I know Aiden and are also enjoying their freedom from layering and LOVE any opportunity to run around naked. (And yes, we have had a few accidents!)
On Friday, Grammie and Dziadz Pt came over in the afternoon and joined us for a day at Northwest Park. Yes, we have become frequent visitors but the boys love their time spent in the fresh air and are always well amused with the animals, playground and open, grassy fields. Aiden and Chris loved the swings as always and enjoyed running around the playground, burning lots of energy. Grammie and Dziadz were great sports, chasing them around and helping me with two extra sets of hands. The free hands afforded me the opportunity to take advantage of photo ops. What could be better!
Friday night we went to Grammie and Grandpa Hopkins for some pizza and play time. Great Grammie Tag headed back to South Carolina on Saturday morning so we wanted to wish her well and sneak in one last visit. Aiden and Chris loved the company and LOVED the new outdoor toys at Grammie & Grandpa's. They drove right into the sandbox filled with green (yes, special!) sand and then cleaned themselves in their kiddy pool. What could be better!
Unfortunately car rides have not been very pleasantly lately and we try to time them around naps/bed time but those attempts have been unsuccessful. Mike and I are hopeful that this will be a quickly passing phase. Anyone with any suggestions, please share! We dread car rides these days...
Yesterday we had fun hanging around the house in the morning and afternoon. Later, we headed out to meet our friends, Phil/Steph & Karen/Jeff/Elliot at the Summer House for dinner and ice cream. The kids had a great time once we let them loose to play outside on the wooden play structures. (They DID NOT want to be contained inside in high chairs!) Once outside, they were very taken by all of the older kids that were running around and were very entertained just watching the guys. Although our ability to relax and chat was limited in trying to keep up with the boys, it was nice to catch up and we feel so lucky to have seen Karen and Jeff since they had their baby girl this morning!
For the first time in a long time, the boys slept until 6:50 this morning! What a treat! I guess keeping them up an hour past their bedtimes for the past two nights was finally catching up. Mike and I were thrilled but of course, that throws off nap and feeding schedules for the rest of the day.
This afternoon we went to check out the Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor. Mike and I weren't sure if Chris and Aiden would appreciate it but we figured it was a great thing to do when the predicted weather forecast was rain.... all day. So.... we headed out and had a lot of fun! They had a small toy train set that the boys enjoyed and they had a room full of old trolley cars, some of which you could climb in and check out and others that were just on display. The boys loved the train whistles every time they rang. I think the highlight of our adventure was the ride through the woods on a real trolley. We went for a 20 minute ride on an open air trolley that was from 1910. Only 4 cars were made like the one that we got to check out and the boys actually sat back and relaxed to enjoy the cool breeze and peaceful ride. It was a neat adventure and I think we may have to return again when the boys are old enough to appreciate more of the exhibits.
Later today we are looking forward to a visit from our friends Jennifer and Georgianna who moved to California just before Christmas. Georgie is a few weeks younger than the boys and since is has been 6 months since we have seen them, I am anxious to see how they interact and so excited to see what Georgianna has been up to. I am also thrilled to be able to catch up with Jen IN PERSON!
What a great weekend! Congratulations again to all of the new Mommies and Daddies!
