Sounds of the season

To wrap up a year in a few words is not an easy task, so I am not going to try.

Our year in review 2010 the year of the learning

~ Learning to run, let alone walk!

~ Learning to talk and manipulate your parents with your sweet little voices.

~ Learned that negotiating with 2 almost 2 year olds is non-negotiable

~ Learning to enjoy spending 15 minutes building a tower, only to have it destroyed in less than 15 seconds.

~ Learning to choose your battles and sometimes battling over eating cookies for breakfast is not one of them

~ Teeth! And lots of them!
~ Freedom from my breast pump of which I was slave to for a year
. This was like quitting a part-time job, gaining about 6 hours a day!

~ Mike and I remembered what a full night of sleep is like after 13 months of no sleep Finally the boys learned to sleep THROUGH the night!

~ Our 5th roommate, Auntie Laura left us to return to Worcester.

~ Aiden & Christopher celebrated their FIRST birthday!

~ A& C learned to "sing" and "read" and also learned the important of playing pretend. The make one heck of a delicious cup of pretend hot chocolate!

~ Learning how "teachable" toddlers are. For example, teaching the boys to clean up, put their clothes in the hamper, & throw out their dirty diapers.

~ Learning that everything can be fun when turned into a game yes, even changing poopy diapers and washing nasty sippy cups

~ Mike and I have learned that hide and seek and piggy backs NEVER get old!

~ Everything is okay as long as it is prefaced with the word "special." Would you like a sip of my "special" veggie juice?

~ The boys learned that tooth brushes can be fun and can be multi-purpose: hair combs, back massages, wall cleaners the options are endless.

~ I've learned that having the boys first word be "Daddy" is not such a bad thing as that is who they call in the middle of the night!

~ I've learned to enjoy books again... Children's books that is!

~ I've learned that being a parent is continuous learning curve and there is nothing that could be more rewarding.

~ There is no such thing as laughing too much or playing too much.

~ I have learned to redefine dressing up. Dressing up now means wearing anything but sweatpants. I have to laugh when Mike and I go out and I put on my jeans and Mike says, "wow, you look nice all dressed up!" Really, jeans are dressed up? I'll take it!

~ While I LOVE the sound of my little tikes voices, I have learned to enjoy quite moments. There aren't many but after bedtime or on car rides alone, I cherish the break from playing referee and enjoy the peacefulness.

~ While chocolate really does make just about everything better.. especially when it's Rolo's or Little Debbie Fudge Brownies, I have learned to sneak it as I now have two little men that expect me to share!

~ It doesn't take much to make toddlers happy sometimes pots, pans and Tupperware are just fine!

~ There are no better words than "I Love You" when said by your children, even if only you can understand what they are saying.

~ I've learned that a 22 month old can be far stronger than a 30 year old when you're trying to change the poopy diaper and they have a better idea to roll over and run away.

~ I've learned that nakedness with a toddling boy should be for no longer than 1-2 second stretches unless you enjoy washing your floors afterward.

~ Maybe the food the boys share isn't so bad after all; it requires less chewing and offers enhanced flavor and added moisture!

~ I've learned that if you share a glass of water with Aiden and Chris, it is no longer calorie free as there is at least 35 calories worth of misc. backwash surprises!

~ Every day is opposite day. If you want the boys to do one thing, you ask them to do the opposite.

~ And on a more sincere note, we have learned that regardless of what is going on in the crazy world around us; the love, support and dependability of our amazing family and friends really is what makes life so wonderfully amazing and so worthwhile!
