Well, I am at it again. Camera crazy last weekend and nothing new to share today, sorry! I did notice as I signed into blogger that this is my 400th post! Woo hoo. I certainly have my days of feeling like I don't have much to share and today happens to be one of them but I am so pleased to have a record of our "happenings" since 2008 when I first discovered this addictive world as I wanted to keep family and friends updated on the wonderful world of carrying twins.
So, our happenings... well... it's been a very "off week." Our two usual playdates were both off this week and we've been enjoying some time meeting new friends at the playground. I can't stay home, we all drive ourselves nuts, especially being as the boys haven't napped for me in over a week (although they do take a good nap for Mamie, she's got the magic touch... or they just know how to work me!). So, we pack up and head out to break up our day and we all enjoy the change of scenery. This week we checked out Jonathan's Dream in West Hartford. What fun! The boys met Isiah, their 4 year old buddy who wanted to do everything they did. So cute.
Our success of the week is that we are now two FULL days without potty accidents! Diapers at night but we even did without diapers during our outtings and quiet/nap time. I'm thrilled even if it is only temporary, it's been a success worth celebrating and A & C were thrilled to get new cookie monster tooth brushes as their reward tonight (I figured I should start trying to make up for all of the sugar they have consumed during the potty training learning curve with some exciting dental accessories).
My two favorites of the week:
A few weeks ago I was on the phone with my friend Gina when the boys decided to act up. Without giving it much thought (because I've used this trick before), I told them I was talking to Santa who was at my friends house and he wanted to know if they were behaving. Gina played the role and the boys totally bought it. Success! This week I was thrilled to spend a night canning homemade Salsa with Gina. As I said goodbye, Aiden said "Mommy, I want to come." I explained it was bedtime but we could visit her together again another time. He turned around with inquisitive eyes and said "Is Santa going to be there tonight?" While my previous conversation had completely slipped my mind, my two year old quickly reminded me! Maybe I won't be using that trick for so long afterall.
While getting dressed and ready to head outside today, Chris picking out his shoes and said "Hey mom, where's my betweenies?" I bet you're wondering what "betweenies" are? Well so was I! They're flip flops silly because they go "betweenie" your toes. How's that's good for a chuckle! I love the language creativity.
It's official Aiden and Chris turned 2 1/2 yesterday! No celebration outside of the few new gray hairs that Mike and I have acquired. Happy half birthday to my two little loves.
