I have gained a whole new level of respect and appreciation for spacklers. Who would have guessed that I would be 360 pounds of spackle in and still not anywhere near done in the basement. And…. yes, it has been like what 5 weeks now??? Crazy and certainly not my calling. I do wear the sheetrock dust well though – on my head, nose, face, arms, you name it.
Mike has also gained a whole new level of respect for plumbers this week. On Monday night he accidently put a screw through a water pipe in the basement while hanging some ceiling. As you might be picturing, we have a bit of a water park extravaganza going on, all over our new walls and work in progress. 3 hours and many Home Depot trips and credit card swipes later it was fixed. Uggh. Today was take 2 as Mike bravely attempted to move some pipes in my laundry closet. Let’s just say it was a repeat of Monday’s show with 4 more trips and probably closer to 7 hours. I do have to give Mike credit though, he is persistent, patient and even managed to keep the language child friendly.
Lesson learned for both of us – save and hire professionals. Most have worked hard to earn their titles. We’ve mastered the working hard part but the titles are yet to come.
On a brighter note, we are making process. I am convinced that this has to be my last tub of spackle. Mike has begun tackling the ceiling which Grandpa Hopkins so wonderfully helped design and Dziadzu came over to help with some of the painting prep and ahhh… it feels good! We are so excited to see our space transformed but the process to get there seems to be endless but I have nothing to complain about (and yes, I remind myself of that again and again as I have rubbed every knuckle raw and my hands are those of an 80 year old from putty day in and day out.)
Yesterday we woke up to a beautiful sight! Snow, snow and more snow which means fun, fun and more fun for A & C. I quickly had to teach them about powdery snow and wet snow to prevent disappointment with the last two snow falls, neither of which were snowball snow if you know what I mean.
Today I was excited to celebrate my sister in law Sarah and the amazing little baby girls in her belly. She looks amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed myself at her baby shower in Wellesley Hills, Ma at a fun little café. She has the “Momma glow” going on and looks radiant. We couldn’t be happier for them and are so excited to meet our nieces in the coming months. While the ladies were away to play, Daddy and Dziadzu were at the home front plugging away at the work in the basement in between the Patriot’s distractions and tracking down our little men. It was an enjoyable day for all. Go Pats!
