Today is one of those days when I don’t feel like blogging but can’t help myself. I am a person of routine and I can’t stand breaking it. It’s Wednesday and so I must blog. And yes, it gets added to Wednesdays chore lists. So… instead I am going to keep it brief and as you may have guessed, I don’t have any new pictures.
Our week started out as a flop as poor Aiden had a “treadmill accident.” No, I do not let my kids use the treadmill and maybe that is part of the problem. I was under the impression that the boys were playing nicely in the playroom when they instead snuck to the other side of the basement and found their way to the exercise equipment. I am confident that it took less than 2 minutes until they were discovered as I heard death cries and went running {I should note that A & C do not typically play unattended but I was on a work call and distracted for all of about 2 minutes…} The story of how the accident happened unfolded over the past few days as we learned that Aiden was pretending to be a doggie and was on all 4’s on the treadmill when Chris kindly discovered how to use the key and turn the machine on, sending one doggie flying. The poor little tike ended up with rubber burns on his face, neck and shoulder and an incredible deep slice off of his left middle finger and the back of his hand. Not the best start to a week but I am the proud mom of a brave little boy who has been toughing it out since.
Yesterday we ventured out to Belchertown to visit with GG and Dziadzu. The boys miss their regular trips which made for good leverage for me through the days leading up to our visit. It was great to see them and so fun to see the boys so excited.
I enjoyed a shopping trip last night with my friend Leeanne. How easy is it to find something that you “need” when perusing through the all too dangerous Home Goods. It was one of those kinds of trip but as an added bonus, I did start some Christmas shopping!
Speaking of Christmas, I must admit that it has shown its glorious face in the Hopkins household over the past few…. weeks…. The Christmas spirit must be genetic or perhaps contagious because A & C are taking after their good ol’ Mom {and well… I LOVE and encourage it!} I have restrained myself and am still enjoying my fall decoration but we have been reading Christmas stories before bed. For anyone who knows me, you know I am not a reader. Would you believe me if I told you that I read a chapter book. Weird, I know… and better yet…. I read it in 3 days! And yes, it was a Christmas one. I highly recommend the Christmas Blessing. It was bittersweet but heartwarming.
Of note this week we were excited to meet our friends, the Gilmores, at the library this afternoon. We were excited to also “bump” into other friends, both old and new. What better to do on a rainy afternoon, right?
My funny story of the week is again, centered around good old Christopher and his diversity lessons. Ironically enough, it also involves the learning curve that is taking place during morning drop off. He’s observant considering its not even 8 am yet! As we waited in line for drop off this morning, Chris noticed a young girl getting out of the car ahead of ours. The girl was Muslim and wore a covering over her head and face. Chris looks up, spotting the girl and says “cool Mom, look at that kid, he’s all dressed up like a ghost.” Tis the season being Halloween and all and sometimes, I’m just left speechless……
Happy Wednesday everyone! So much for my brevity!
