The nursery reveal

Football?  What football?  Super Bowl?  What’s so super about it?  I am among the minority who could care less about football. Today is just another cold Sunday but at least it’s a fun excuse to have a few special snacks around!

Our week hasn’t been anything out of the ordinary and I lack anything of pizzazz to share with you, so my apologies. Friday night I had a fun night out with my lady friends from Valley Brook.  We played a crazy game and couldn’t stop laughing.  Its always nice to be able to lighten up and laugh the night away.  Of course when Aiden and Chris were up before the sun on Saturday I was reconsidering my decision to stay out so late and wondering how I’ve become so old so quickly.  Seriously {well about the old part anyways, maybe not about reconsidering my decision}.  Thankfully Saturday was a down day for the boys and I as Mike worked at the house and the boys and I did some chores and a few “to-do’s” around the house.  It’s amazing what a four year old is willing to do for a quarter.  This week the boys learned to scrub a bathroom sink and counter.  A lesson I was all too happy to happy to teach and just as happy to dish out the quarter {x2}.

Today I was thrilled to have my talented and amazingly patient friend Heather over to take some pictures of the boys and family.  She is truly gifted and has such an amazing eye and I am ohhh sooo thankful that she was willing to deal with two almost birthday boys who were less than pleasant and less than accommodating at times.  I can’t wait to see her work her magic!  Thank you Heather!

This marks the start of week 29.  The nursery is well underway and I finally have a few picture to share.  I am finally crossing things off of my “to-do” list to be ready for his arrival and it feels amazing. Now he just needs to stay put for at least 9ish more weeks!

So left to right:

* The nursery door.  If we’re being honest, I would like to re-do my “hello.”  I love the idea but wasn’t thrilled with how my printing came out.

* The built in that Mike and I created and I have been having all too much fun arranging and rearranging

* One of two windows with my new shades that were super easy and inexpensive to make.  I had the hardest time choosing a fabric but have been thrilled with my choice and even happier to have them done. (Don’t' mind the two lamps.  Lighting is an issue in this room as we have NO overhead light!  I will need to work on relocating and illuminating like crazy from the floor on up!)

* The changing table area.  The babies name will be hung between all of the fabric shapes and I am sure this wall and arrangement will be reworked at least once or two more times until I am pleased with the placement (Don’t worry Dad, after all of your hard work painting, I used super small nails so they should be easy to fill, wink wink)  I also re-did the face of the changing table this weekend.  I was ready for something new.  This old bureau was a curbside treasure from 2 years ago and needed a third face lift.  I’ll post a picture of the update soon.

** I also don’t have a picture of the crib.  Last week I finished sewing the bumper and I just finished up sewing a dust ruffle (is that what they’re called?)  I’ll share soon!

It simple and a tad bit plain but it’s just how I wanted it. I am not a lover of “themes” and seem to tire of them too easily so with a neutral palate, the sky is the limit for me!  Just how I like it :)

The boys “treat” today was to take a bath.  Pathetic, I know.  They don’t mind showers and quite frankly they are so much easier and so much less clean up.  My style!  As Aiden and Chris stretched out “swimming” side by side in the tub, I realized that the tub is just about at capacity with the two on them.  They loved their play time and it was a great way to kill an hours time!
