If you’re bored and young, sock bubbles might be just the thing for you.
With our week of confinement last week, I turned to some of those wonderful things I’ve posted on Pinterest for inspiration like sock bubbles. If you have old socks or perhaps favorites with wholes, it’s a great way to give them a second life. Simply take a plastic water bottle, cut off the bottom, slip on the sock and voila, resourceful recycling and cheap entertainment. We even made our own bubble solution and it was even better than store bought:
Yields: 1 1/4 cups of bubble solution
Ingredients
- 1 cup Warm Water
- 4 Tablespoons Dish Soap, (Joy brand recommended)
- 2-3 drops vegetable oil
How to Make Bubbles
- Put warm water in bowl or cooking pot. We recommend a large pot/stock pot and multiplying the recipe for giant bubbles.
- Add dish soap and stir to help dissolve. You may want to let the dish soap and water solution sit for a few minutes.
- When you are ready to use the solution. Add 2-3 drops of vegetable oil (this makes the bubbles harder to pop).
We spent a lot of time in the fresh HUMID air
(Aiden, 2 left; Chris, 2 right)
We spent a fabulous Saturday at the Cove in Barkhamsted, CT with five other families. It is truly a secret, quiet hidden little gem. The kids ran, swam, giggled and burnt some much needed energy.
We braved the heat and headed to the Suffield annual Fireman’s carnival and parade. A first for Jake and a HUGE kid with the big kids.
Aiden and Chris went on their first Scrambler ride with Daddy and haven’t stopped talking about it since.
The kids ate far too much junk food and Mike and I left it all go for one night and remembered the excitement of being four :)
We played, we worked and we enjoyed!
