Aiden and Chris were star patients as they went for their cleanings earlier this week. They sat more patiently than many adults and followed the directions of the hygienist far better than those dictated from me. I was proud. Getting out of the house however was a different story…. Mike agreed to work from the home office while Jake napped. I planned Jakes afternoon naptime and feeding to line up with our departure {or so I thought!}. Aiden and Chris were to be dressed, and ready to go. Shoes and socks on. Teeth brushed. Toys to entertain themselves while they waited packed and waiting by the door. I had all of my to-do’s checked off. We were in good shape…. It’s amazing what can go on during the 15 minutes that you nurse the baby to sleep….. Chris’s feet got hot so he took off his socks. He changed his shirt 3 times {all dumped on his bedroom floor of course}. He lost his shoes. Aiden in the meantime decided he was hungry and indulged in a muffin. And Jake, well he only agreed to a 20 minute nap. So much for good intentions! Chris has a chipped front tooth that we were unaware of and both will be needing braces. Hello payment plan! The good news is that there were no cavities and no incidences with the exception of Christopher farting while he sat on my lap in a swiveling chair in the tiny little dental room where we watched the hygienist at work. The life of a Mom with boys I guess!
Jake is doing great. He is being a champ {despite boycotting naps} about his teeth coming in. The first tooth is still working it’s way up and the second looks like it won’t be far behind. His new favorite place to perch is at the glass on the opened front door. He still admires the cat and squeal each time he sees her. She is more patient with him than with Aiden and Chris. Jake has also learned to exercise his vocal cords with a ridiculous blood curling shrill. It’s a head turner. I attempt to ignore but sometimes it takes everything in me. Let’s hope he’s learning!
This is how I found the little man on his bedroom floor after being curious why he was quiet for all of 30 seconds…. If he’s near be sure to keep any wipes out of swiping height {boy was he proud and boy was he upset when I took them away}!
Christopher has been working hard on writing his first “book.” Coming from a boy who had no interest in writing his name, let alone a “book,” I am awfully proud. His handwriting has come a long way!
And while Chris has been writing, I have been wrapping up the bathroom project! Woo hoo… here is it… I still have some final little things to do but you can have a sneak peak or pop over to see it in person….
I am also just about done with all of the doors and trim in the hallway and to celebrate, I’m taking the night off from “work” tomorrow! I can’t wait!
