I can finally say that our bathroom is D.O.N.E…. For now at least! The project took two weeks. {Two weeks longer than I hoped!} I was wishing for a quick coat of paint and a new look and feel. Unfortunately I am turning into a bit of a perfectionist. I sanded and spackled for the past 2 weeks. The walls have at least 10 layers of love and I am still drawn to the few remaining imperfections… Life goes on and being sick of looking at those walls I am willing to “settle” for a 9/10 type job! What started as a simple coat of paint turned into new walls, painted trim and a re-done vanity. It’s been a productive weekend. Pictures to come but the room is still drying and I’ve got some work ahead of me getting it all pulled back together. It’s bright, its sunny and it’s reminds me of the cheerfulness that will soon lay outside our windows!
Saturday we decided to participate in National “Unplug Day.” While I think the intention was to step away from the distractions of technology, we attempted to take it one step further and decided to go without electricity for the day as well. The boys where psyched and the highlight was the fire in the fireplace and hotdogs on the grill. The day was a blessing as it helped us refocus on our family and spending time together and sometimes we need those reminders. Unfortunately the fun was cut short just before bedtime when we had some curiosity with candles and a hot spilled waxy mess. So thankful no one was hurt but ready to get our lights back on the the temptations put away! {Sorry no pictures to share… no camera and no cell phone for 24 hours but fun memories made for sure!}
Aiden and Chris participated in a Lowe’s kids workshop yesterday morning and were thrilled to build a birdhouse. We played outside, took them for a bike ride and spent a good part of the day playing Legos. The boys were in their glory and despite over 75 emails to sort through, Mike and I enjoyed the challenge and time together as well.
Friday afternoon the boys headed to Mamies and Grandpa’s for the night. They were so excited and just love sleeping at other people’s houses. Pizza for dinner, ice cream for dessert and new Lego kits to keep them entertained… The makings of a very special night! Mike and I enjoyed a quieter night at home with our little guy who delighted in the alone time!
Tomorrow we’re keeping our fingers crossed for two eventless, cavity free dental appointments for Aiden and Chris! Have a great start to your week and happy daylight savings! I’m hopeful a day of naps totaling a mere 45 minutes will make for a smoother transition for our little man!
