What a week it’s been… Cooler temps and frigid water didn’t stop us from having fun with Grammie and Dziadzu last week in Maine. With so many fun childhood traditions passed along now to my own kiddos, we’ve always got plenty on our agenda, come sunshine or rain and in good moods or bad {we had a case of cranky five year olds crabs}.
We missed having Uncle Eric, Auntie Laura and Uncle Danny in tow this year but with little Goodman just a few weeks way from making his debut, we’ve still got plenty to look forward to with a visit from our Floridian in a few short weeks and plans to spend lots of time with the soon expanding Goodman family once Aunties on maternity leave.
Maine wouldn’t be Maine without….
56 degree water temperatures.
Dziadzu looking for someone to join him in an artic polar bear swim.
Tidal pool fun.
A few rainy days.
Scoop deck, sticky fingers and hair and the discovery of new favorite ice cream flavors.
Refinancing the house to enjoy Congdon’s donuts {seriously though, $15 a dozen!).
Long walks on the beach dreaming about our future.
Sand EVERYwhere!
Morning jogs with a cool beach wind and no worries about daily schedules.
New collections: seashells, rocks, driftwood and sea glass.
Junk food….for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between,
Sugar cereal for breakfast…. A once a year vacation treat!
Playground visits.
Craft projects {tie dye & sand hand molds} and family game times.
Small “habits” as Chris called them, borrowed from the sea and kept as friends for the night only to wake up to the smell of rotten eggs.
Seagull feeding, admiration and chasing.
And while there’s never enough time to savor each moment, we always leave full of gratitude for the fabulous treat, time spent with family and memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Thank you Mom and Dad. You were great sports to put up with us and to ask us along on such a fun adventure!
