The truth is that I started my previous post on Thursday afternoon and found myself working on it later that night. The night got away from me and rather than deleting, I posted four days late. Honestly, I am finding myself consumed with my class. Trying not to waste a free minute and spending all of my “quiet” time studying, reading and preparing. I knew I would and while I’m sort of sick of reading the same thing day in and day out, I am see the light at the end of the tunnel. The volume to read and memorize is intense but the class will be over in November and with the way the weeks fly by, November will be here in no time!
This weekend was like most. Packed with lots of to-dos but filled with many interruptions, both good and bad. The big boys and I finally snuck out Friday night before bed to pick out a few favorite clothing items for back to school. Before school started I offered and was excited to take them and neither seemed interested. Chris in particular now looks through his drawers and only has one pair of pants {which technically belong to Aiden} and one shirt that he is willing to wear. If I were to wash it nightly, he would wear it daily. So we’ve introduced some variety, most of which mimics the tastes of our eight year old neighbor. They were adorable in making their selections and I felt lucky to pick up snow pants and boots while we were out and they were cooperating. They came home excited, gracious and ready for bed.
Saturday marked the boys first official soccer game. Jake and I played at home since the game was smack dab in the middle of his morning nap. Mike said it was fun to watch and as to be expected, with with no one quite sure which goal they’re supposed to head toward and an entire flock of kids from both teams following the ball from one end to the other. I’m anxious to make it to the next mid-morning game as we’ve got plenty more to enjoy. The game was a tie and Aiden and Chris both scored a few goals. They’re good players and good sports.
Mike spent the day Saturday finishing our retaining wall along the driveway and it came out great. It was long overdue and a project he was dreading. I was on Mommy duty, sneaking in load after load of laundry and a few inside chores and after Mike finished up his work, we headed to explore the parameter at Sunrise Park, one of our favorite stops. With Mike’s project taking most of the day yesterday, I spent the day today catching up on my list of to-do’s. My winter clothes are officially out and after giving the washing machine a run for it’s money, all of our couch cushions are washed, beds are all changed and pillows {decorative and regular} are all clean. I don’t know what it is about changing beds but that tops the list of my most dreaded chores. Glad to be done for now at least. The kids were thrilled to pull out their cozy fleece sheets that Grammie and Dziadzu gifted them last year.
This weekend was a good balance of work and family and just the right amount of relaxing and productivity. Tomorrow begins week two of my class and my first quiz, eek! Aiden and Chris are certainly feeling better about school knowing how much work Mommy is putting into her class and are feeling pretty lucky about not having tests … yet…. like Mommy. Lets hope I make them proud and pass! Here is a glimpse at our weekend explorations.
