And finally, I had a word with the sellers agent on our new home. I consider myself to be a pleasant person but it wasn’t pretty. The man’s been MIA for over 3 weeks. I kid you not. I would be happy {and perhaps feel better} if I ranted and raved about his lack of professionalism but instead I’ll keep it simple and share the good news.
We FINALLY have a legible contract. Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately it’s taken over 4 weeks to get a second signature on the sellers end. With technology today, the original agreement was scanned and emailed back and forth several times which lead to a murky looking contract. If you’ve purchased a home recently you know that a legible contract is a key element for obtaining a mortgage. In other news, we also finally got agreement for the extension on our closing date. Technically we were “set” to close in a week and a half. TEN days yet we still didn’t have the documents necessary to obtain a secured mortgage. Silly but exciting. We have also been informed that the furnace will be fixed but the technician is waiting on a part he ordered. The joys of dealing with a foreclosure. Assuming we get news that the furnace is up and running soon, we will have the house de-winterized and inspected ASAP and are still hopeful that we will close on February 20th.
The silver lining of it all is that my nights have felt some what free. In between packing, I’ve been working with Aiden and Chris on some fun things for the walls in their new rooms. Being the control freak that I am, I am choosing the wall color but letting them choose the theme. Chris decided on an airplane theme and Aiden, a fishing theme. Both will be neutral because I’m not very brave when it comes to design and both have been a lot of fun to dream out and create with the boys. I’ll share some pictures once we settle into our new space. In the meantime, here’s a preview of our new house from the street.
Isn’t it cute? 4 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a bit over 1/2 acre and a great layout. We are busting at the seams to get inside and make it ours!
And on a side note, I have an amazing husband. Mom’s aren’t allowed to get sick but somehow I missed that memo earlier this week. The big boys were sick last week, Jake started Sunday afternoon and I was just behind Jake. The flu got the best of me and Mike played super Daddy. I can not stand laying around and was driving myself nuts. I was thankful for the snow storm as Mike was able to be home Monday and Tuesday while I laid low. I’m still on the mend but looking forward to being back to full speed and hoping that I can kick this thing once and for all. Germs stay away, we took our turn!
