February Updates

I am newly active on Instagram but truly finding that I’m in love.  I love the ability to jump in “like” a post and jump out without having to catch up on hours of feeds like Facebook.  Facebook is intimidating in that it feels like such a huge time commitment to catch up when you’re not a regular follower.  While I’m working on getting better about sharing pictures myself, I do enjoy seeing the world through others eyes and I am truly finding myself so encouraged and inspired by some of the amazing people out there.  I follow just as many strangers as I do friends.  I love seeing the faces of friends and their kiddos and nothings better an uplifting quote or inspiring craft idea or home décor.  It’s the perfect fit for me and if you’re not familiar, I suggest you jump on board and check it out.  There’s something for everyone.

So speaking of being inspired, we are getting oh so anxious to get on with our move.  Between magazine clippings, blog inspiration, Pinterest ideas and now instagram finds, my mind is whirling and I’m sure I have enough to keep me busy until my hair grows gray and my children need to push me in a wheel chair.  Seriously.  Today’s world has become a busy place with media and technology and while it can easily be overwhelming, it can also be so inspiring.

On the home front, we received discouraging news as we pushed to move forward with our closing set for the 20th.  The furnace was finally fixed last week.  It’s been a 6 week battle.  At the end of last week, I finally saw the repair truck parked outside the driveway {yes, I case the house on an entirely regular basis} and I had the courage enough (with a little push from my manager) to let myself in and approach the vendor to get the inside scoop.  What seemed easy enough, was just that… too darn easy.  With moving trucks and help lined up, inspections, appraisals and such all scheduled, it was just our luck yesterday to find out that the heat has again stopped working.  Darn Friday the 13th misfortune.  We are back at square one with six weeks lost and still without resolve.  I admittedly am a control freak and while I thought having children was my biggest challenge, this has been the ultimate test of my patience.  As you can imagine, I spent the better part of yesterday postponing and cancelling all that was lined up.  We are still wrapping up packing and small projects that remain and are hopeful this delay won’t set us back to far.  After all, all that we can do is hope as the next steps fall in the sellers agents hands.

That being said, it was a busy week.  I had my follow up for my hand.  While everything looks good and seems to be healing as it should. I wasn’t able to have my stitches out yet and have to wait until next week which was a bit discouraging but I’d rather be safe than sorry.  I am thrilled to say that I have yet to wake up in pain with my right hand since the surgery.  It’s been years since I can say that so I am beyond thrilled.

Aiden and Chris had a school play “going on a road trip” on Thursday.  The kindergartners sang four songs and were as cute as can be.  The turn out was phenomenal and I am thrilled to be in a community with such great support.  It is a stark difference from our experience in Hartford.

Poor Chris was sick with the flu and home from school for yet another day last week.  We were all pleased that he was well and able to get back in time for the school play, valentines party and their school birthday celebration.  Suffield is quite different from Annie Fisher Montessori with their birthday celebration rules because, well, there really aren’t any rules outside of being peanut free.  At Aiden and Chris’s request, they brought in homemade chocolate chip cookies to share with their classmates.  They are their “favorite” thing that I make.  With the hustle and bustle of house packing I was thrilled to keep it simple.

Jake has been a good little doobie.  He is into everything and talking up a storm.  His favorite word is “no.”  His favorite food is crackers and cheese.  His favorite TV shows are Curious George, Thomas the Train and any home videos with Dziadzu in them.  He loves to bake but insists that everything needs chocolate in it.  He is quick to make a mess but eager to sing the clean up song and join in the efforts.  He LOVES celebrating birthdays and shuffles around singing “happy, happy, happy”.  He adores Cali and his greatest obsession could be a tie between her and Dziadzu.  After quizzing him this week, we learned that he is indeed able to tell the difference between Aiden and Chris and has started attempting to call them by name.  Above all else, he loves attention and will do anything to play the role of family clown.  There’s nothing better than a captive audience of older brothers who think everything naughty is wonderful and should be encouraged.  We’ve got the dynamic trio here I tell ya!

Pictures to come as we celebrate Aiden and Chris’s SIXTH birthday on Monday!
