I’m finding that as Aiden and Chris get older, they desire less and less Mom and Dad time and more time with friends. Already, at six?
So when I’ve got the opportunity and they have the enthusiasm, I jump. Today, I met the boys for lunch at school. It was messy, funny and down right silly. The teachers earn their pay! From squishing applesauce packets on their foreheads to sliding full milk cartons across the table, I’ve learned quite a few tricks. It’s interesting to learn just how many of the kids eat dessert first and find their left with “no room” for the sandwich that their parents packed.
We boarded the bus and headed to Agawam to the Red Door Theater and I had the pleasure of chaperoning with Christopher’s class. Aiden joined and sat with me during the performance and Chris volunteered and was up on stage playing the role of a mouse, cleaning with Cinderella. The play was adorable and the kids all had a blast. Having never been before, I was thoroughly impressed. The play was well organized and engaging and the kids were all in awe. It was a loud bus ride home but the kids had a blast.
Chris is the 4th mouse in from the left
After showing a few houses, I headed out with my big man, Aiden for a date night. He picked out some new sneakers and a backpack for next year that he feel in love with. I left him poke with Five Below (the ultimate store in that he can afford anything!) and ended the night at the frozen yogurt bar where he tried three flavors and countless toppings. How sweet they can be when you’re not rushed and truly enjoying the company of one another. Chris is next up for a date night and Jake, well he’s got me all day long!
