"No more pictures Mom!!!"
Chris resting up for the emotional breakdown that occurred hours later....
Chris (L) & Aiden (R) naked and soaking up the sun today.
I recently read a quote that I loved and wanted to share:
Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone
Being a parent has been such an amazing experience and I know that there is still SO much more to come. I delight in the fact that everyday is full of so much love and so many firsts for the babies. Each day is a day that they have never experienced, today being their first May 20th. Tonight Mike and I ate dinner on the back deck while the boys were napping. Of course as soon as we took our first bite, we heard them shuffling inside so we decided to enjoy the night outside as a family. The deck was a hit! It was their first time enjoying the deck but it went over well. The boys loved looking around, staring at the roof and trees. I think they also got a kick out of hearing the birds sing as this is a familiar sound from several of their toys. We had a great time watching Aiden and Chris delight in this new experience. Of course following this relaxing time, Chris had a break down but its all a part of what we are growing to love.
We've had a great week and have thoroughly been enjoying the sunshine. Yesterday I went into work for a few hours while the boys were in great hands with 3 babysitters: Dad, Grammie Hopkins & Great Grammie Tag. Work went well for me and I was surprised yet again by my co-workers with a birthday celebration breakfast. It was a wonderful treat! I then came home to another birthday treat.... Mike took me out to get fitted for an awesome new bike. Both families and extended families helped chip in so that I could get a "real" bike rather than my 10 speed Huffy from 3rd grade. Yet another wonderful treat! We were generously given a bike trailer so Mike and I are anxious to give it a try! I have a feeling it will be a huge hit with the boys as they enjoy anything that moves.
I forgot to mention in my last post that I weighed the boys on my scale at home last weekend. Chris now weighs 10.2 pounds and Aiden weighs 11! I credit the additional pudge for the slightly longer sleeping stretches that we have had the past two nights. On Monday, their first stretch was 4 hours and last night it was 5. I would like to hope for 6 tonight but I've decided not to push my luck! Other worthy news.... The boys are talking a lot these days and have mastered how to get our attention with their squeaks and squeals so it is quite entertaining.
We are looking forward to the sunshine ahead!
