Me with Chris who wasn't sure what to do in the heat so be borrowed Daddy's hat... Don't worry Aunt Martha, this one was clean :)
Just wanted to share a quick preview of some of the pictures of the Extreme Home Makeover House. Mike, Aiden, Chris and I took the "spectator" bus yesterday to view the house from the outside. It was a fun experience but a long afternoon in the sun for the boys. They were troopers. You have to be bused over to the site and bused back to your car. No one is allowed to enter the site on foot. All together it took us about 2 hours and although it was hot, it was a one time experience. I have since changed my mind about wanting to participate on Sunday. I am pretty sure that you would have to camp out the night before to get anywhere close and I am also pretty confident that it would take about 2 days to be bused back to you car... I am not sure that I can put myself or the boys through that test.
The house is gorgeous from the outside but the neighborhood is a mess. It smells like you are on a farm because of all of the mud! Gross! From what we have been told all of the neighbors will have their yards fixed/replaced after the show and are also receiving a year of free lawn care from one of the sponsors! Not a bad deal... The neighbors also get to wear special name badges that say "neighbor" in case they forget who they are. There are a ton of "VIP" people. These are businesses and individuals that sponsored the event and get to ride on special buses and get to view the house from special tents. Its pretty cool but it makes it difficult to get anywhere as a regular spectator. We also learned yesterday that ABC does 2 homes at the same time. Our bus driver was saying that Ty had to come to the site on Wednesday because a water main had broken and he was at the other site, 2 hours away. We didn't get to see any of the "super stars" unfortunately. We also heard that they are very far behind... not sure how you catch up when you are already working around the clock??!?
