Staying Busy

Aiden eating anything that comes in his path.... Including his brother!

Aiden says "see, we are all friends here, right Chris?" Chris "sure... I mean yes, is that what I'm supposed to say big brother?"

Chris "If you stay back no one will get hurt here Aiden..."

We had a great but busy week. With the help of Grammie Hopkins, we braved some shopping in Manchester at Evergreen Walk on Thursday. The boys did great and were very patient during our window shopping and it was so nice to get out and stay cool on such a hot day. We certainly appreciated and enjoyed the air conditioning in the stores as the temps hit the high 80's! It was also empowering to know that it is possible to get out and enjoy some normalcy with two infants, so thank you Carol for your help and confidence in getting us out on the town for the afternoon!

On Friday we had high hopes for good weather but were again washed away with the rain. We were wishing and hoping for sunshine so that we could meet Leeanne at Robinson State Park but instead we ended up under a big umbrella, meeting instead for a later breakfast at Panera's. We had a great visit regardless and the boys did surprisingly well. I was also thrilled that the boys decided to take wonderful naps to sleep away a rainy afternoon which gave me a great chance to catch up on some chores.

We could not have asked for better weather yesterday so we headed to Salmon Brook Park in Granby, Ct where we met the Swanson and Fisher families for an afternoon picnic and play session. The area was great and had something to please and entertain the kids of all ages while the parents enjoyed catching up and of course stuffing out faces with yummy food! The kids all played well together and our boys enjoyed watching the bigger kids play. We all agreed that we need to make every effort to get together more often!

Today we were able to visit, play and catch up with the Lockes. Livia kept us entertained while the adults were able to visit. We had a great time and enjoyed watching Livia interact with the boys. We were bummed that the weather didn't cooperate to be outside enjoying the summer but the company is far more important than the weather!

For the most part, Christopher has decided that sleeping is still not on his agenda. Mike and I were doing the math and realized that he sleeps about 9 hours total between the nights sleep & daily naps. You would think we were slipping caffeine in his bottle or something. Aiden is a much solid sleeper and while he doesn't want to miss a thing he gives into sleep much easier than Chris. Both boys are loving rice cereal so we have been giving them as much as they are willing to eat. We haven't gone back to try oatmeal again because if it works, why change it!?! Next week we go to the Dr.'s again for their 6 month check up. I am anxious to hear how they now "stack up" as compared to other babies their age. I am hopeful that maybe with the rice cereal they will start to catch up and someday get ahead!

We have another great week ahead and are hopeful that the sun will make an appearance eventually!

This week were were thrilled to visit with: Grammie Hopkins, Aunt Lynda/Uncle Dave (with Grammie), Leeanne, Laurie/Geoff/Taylor/Carter, Joe/Kelly/Audrey, Keith/Juliet/Livia.
