I was intimidated to even start this post because it has been SO long since I have posted. I missed my traditional Sunday post so my apologies to any regular followers!

I am going to post some pictures of the boys on our trip to Cape Cod and start to reflect on the past week. I am fearful that this could take about 2 days to write so I think I will start this post as Part 1, to be continued tomorrow as I still have some work to get done tonight!

Last Wednesday night we left for Cape Cod! This was the boys first vacation!!! Mike got home from work to help with last minute packing and Grammie, Dziadz Pt & Auntie Laura helped to entertain the boys while Mike and I did last minute chores, packing and loading of the car. We were extremely grateful to Grammie Hopkins for letting us borrow her car. I am confident that we wouldn't have made it without her CRV... At least not all of us... Mike may have been able to make the trip with one baby in our Corolla, leaving me at home with the other baby. Thankfully we didn't take that route because with two Pack N'Plays and a stroller our car would have been maxed out, nevermind the beach toys, clothes, snacks, etc.

We left right on schedule at 7 pm on Wednesday night. Our car was loaded to the brim because as Mike says it, I am the type of person who would pack the whole house if I could. I like to consider myself prepared for anything that may lie ahead, he likes to consider me a pack rat. In either case, I think we were both grateful to have the extra packing room and both thrilled to learn that we actually packed for our first family vacation without forgetting anything. How many times does that happen?

The ride went well. The boys are in a phase now where they like to sleep anywhere but on their backs. When you put them in their cribs, they can't wait to roll over to their sides or stomaches to settle in for the night. This none the less made for an interesting dilemna for them while they were strapped into their car seats for almost 3 hours. Chris did great and slept about 2 1/2 hours of the trip. Aiden woke up 3 times because he couldn't get comfortable. I finally learned that he was much happier without his headrest and from that point on, he slept. We had an enjoyable ride and with our car adaptor, I was able to pump on the way (yes, quite a site for the lucky truck drivers with cars higher than ours... thankfully it was dark!) saving myself from having to stay up super late once we arrived. We made great timing and got to the Cape just before 10 pm. After unloading, the boys woke up quickly to visit with Great Grammie Tag before we settled them down for the night. The house was adorable with great historical details. Mike and I had a suite with the boys on the second floor. We all shared a king bed for the first time in our lives. What a treat! I almost felt lonely as it felt like I was all alone in the bed until the boys joined us half way through the night. A king bed is a necessity for 2 adults and 2 babies! The boys slept well and Aiden especially loved his sleeping quarters. Lucky Aiden had an A+ view from his Pack N'Play. He had a window at the height of his face that kept him entertained for about 15-20 minutes every morning. What could be better for a 6 month old than a window that overlooked the ocean wiht lots of ships and a busy street below???? Not much in Aiden's world! Chris on the otherhand was given a second tier view from the other side of the room.. poor guy!

Thursday was our first full day at the Cape. Mike and I worked hard to keep the boys on schedule and they quickly reminded us when we strayed from their routine! We woke up early, compliments of having two babies, went for a quick morning walk to get coffee then headed back to visit with Great Grammie. Later that morning, Mike and I headed out to check out the town on foot while the boys took a quick nap in the stroller. After the boys afternoon nap, we headed to the beach for the boys first water experience.... We had one baby that squeeled with delight and one that squeeled with fear. Can you guess who's who? .... More to come tomorrow!
