Chris (L) and Aiden (R) - As long as we have something in our mouths, we are quiet. Chris is enjoying some packaging while Aiden takes a lick of Daddy's sneaker.

Grampie with Chris. I love the look of trust and innocence in Chris's eyes.
Daddy can make anything fun and managed to make Aiden smile despite his slight hesitation in the pool.
Aiden says, "I'm safe over here, right, Dada?"
Grampie and Aiden. Aiden does not look too thrilled!
Chris says "Ohhhhhh.... this is GOOD! Maybe I can even sneak in a drink without anyone knowing..."
Aiden is back to smiling now that he is safe and sound on the couch in the hotel room!
This week we went on a last minute overnight trip to Boston! Mike and I received tickets to go to a Celtics game for Christmas with the Hopkins’s family for Monday night’s game. We were trying to figure out the best plan for how and when to arrive in Boston and had arranged for Auntie Laura and Grammie/Dziadz Pt to watch Aiden and Chris but decided to turn it into a family overnight trip. On Friday, Mike found out that he had Monday off… what a wonderful, welcomed surprise!
Change of plans…. We left mid-day on Monday and spent the afternoon visiting with the boys in Boston. The hotel had a pool and the boys really got a kick of being in a new place and LOVED taking in all of the new sights and sounds. They checked out everything from the busy carpet design and “exit” signs to the power button on the TV. Chris’s newly acquired trick was turning the TV on and off (again and again and again) at the hotel. Mike said he is SO thankful the buttons are set up differently on our TV at home but I personally might enjoy having someone else on my side in helping me keep the TV off as much as possible.
The swimming pool was heated and was a hit! This was not only Chris and Aiden’s first night in the city but it was also their first night in a hotel and first time swimming in a pool! Chris loved the water and attempt to dunk his head under water several times. Aiden wasn’t so sure about the pool and while he didn’t hate it, he also didn’t seem to love it. Remembering back to their first vacation on the Cape this summer, it is funny that the roles have reversed. At the beach, Aiden was delighted with the water and waves at the ocean while Christopher was a bit more hesitant and not so sure about the whole water things. In general, their roles and behaviors seem to be swaying back and forth and just when we think we have a handle on who likes what, it all changes! Certainly keeps you on your toes!
The hotel was relatively baby proof so Aiden and Chris loved having "free roam" of the rooms. I chose to stay at the hotel with the boys at night and really enjoyed the quiet time and of course being at a hotel is always a treat. Despite the Celtics loss, Mike had a blast at the game and really enjoyed himself. It was a wonderful treat and welcomed change of pace for our entire family. It was also great spending time with the entire Hopkins family. We are now back to our quiet but consistent routine and are so glad that the week is now half way through!
