When creating my list of “to-do’s” for this evening, I almost forgot today was Sunday and it is my own personal goal to blog regularly, today being my weekend wrap up. I guess I am still out of sorts from our week without power (okay, lame… it’s been a week already, get with it, Beth!) or maybe I can blame it on already being in the holiday mood. Anyways, I can not wait to do my Christmas shopping this year. I LOVE to shop and Mike and I have tried to be on a reasonable budget since we made the decision for me to be home with A & C. Needless to say, what was once our allowances quickly became the diaper money and now that diapers are no longer needed it has been shifted to our grocery budget supplement. So, shopping has been lean and it’s a good thing but boy oh boy am I excited to have a “legitimate” reason to shop! Aiden and Chris are of course in the holiday spirit already and talking about Santa constantly so this too adds to the excitement and I can not wait to see their faces on Christmas morning. Admittedly I am already losing sleep just about thinking about how excited they will be. It’s just such a fun age and such an age of amazement and awe and we’re LOVING it! As my friend Leeanne says, I am a “Christmas crack head!”
From my last post you may remember that the end of our week was quiet. Thankfully the weather cooperated and we took advantage of burning some energy outside. Oh how we love fresh air! We were without a car, or rather with a three wheeled car until our magical wheel lock key was delivered Friday afternoon. We did enjoy a fun play date with our friends Annie and Charlotte and their Mommy, Erica on Thursday. I think this may have been the boys first official play date with girls and it was fun to watch. Its amazing how differently gender’s play and it was so cute to see them flirt. Aiden took quite a liking to the Mom, Erica and saved all of his pick-up lines for her. Keeps me smiling.

Friday we had a visit from an AC repair man, did some baking, crafting, cleaning, organizing and just plain laying low. A nice change of pace…

Saturday I had the privilege of going on a “date” with Aiden while Daddy spent some one on one with Chris. Unfortunately we had productive things to do and ran many errands together but I really truly had a blast with the little man. He was a great sport and so much fun to shop with. It was great to have company and Mike and I both agreed that its amazing how the dynamics change when you can be alone with them. I guess it’s safe to say that we will be planning many more outings like this one! After we arrived home, we did some baking and headed to Mamie and Grandpa’s for dinner. Auntie Stephie and Great Grammie Tag were over and the boys were thrilled to be the center of everything.
Today Mike and I had nursery duty and were blessed to be around 5 little girls for the morning. I think its so fun to be in the nursery, as we get to know the new little additions at church and get to enjoy some snuggle time with little ones while ours grow too big to want to snuggle. A & C love their “school” and their teachers are amazing. We headed home for some lunch and a visit with Auntie Laura who joined us for a play date with our friends Derek and Ryan and their mommy, Amanda. We had such a fun visit and A & C loved their time playing with the "big boys.” Yes I am a broken record but we are so blessed by the many, many wonderful people who touch our lives in so many special ways.
Mike has been busy working away on replacing our basement windows and is thrilled to say that he is almost done with that part of the project. All of the concrete drilling and chipping has left the house feeling like someone blew baby powder in every corner of every room and on top of everything but we will just chalk it up to the holiday spirit and some extra “snowy” feeling indoors…. For now at least. There will be some MAJOR cleaning in our near future. Maybe I should consider hooking a Swiffer up to Cali? After all, she needs to start earning her keep, right? We make the boys pitch in on the chores already, I’d say its only fair.
Mike also installed a railing for our back deck stairs. I am pretty fond.
We’ve got a busy week ahead and we’re excited to be back in full swing!
Hey Debbie from Gencoat, thanks for keeping Grandpa Hopkins caught up on our happenings! We’re thrilled you’re checking in on us and hope to stop in for a visit in the coming months!
