Our hearts were heavy on Monday as we found ourselves in the Vet’s with a very sick kitty. Cali had been throwing up for a week and stopped eating over the weekend. She has a weakness for curly ribbon and with the boys celebration a week ago, the temptation was strong. We had assumed that she may have had some curly ribbon “stuck” and the vet agreed and admitted Cali, recommending several blood tests and an x-ray to start. They guessed it could have been a ruptured intestine but the x-ray showed otherwise. Her white blood cell count was super high and without running further testing, putting her on a feeding tube and selling our home to finance this endeavor, they guessed it could be a virus, gave her an IV for a bit and some antibiotics and sent her some with more antibiotics, a large medical bill and our fingers crossed that this may do the trick! The good news…. she started eating a bit yesterday and today a bit more. So we are hopeful and ready to enjoy her for a while longer. It’s funny because for all of the crazy things that she does to annoy me, I do know that she is one heck of an amazing kitty who is so eager to please and one that still has so much more life in her (although many a days I think the life could be better lived at someone else’s home!) Long story short, Cali is home and we are loving on our little fluff ball and hoping for continued improvement and lotto winnings to help pay her way.
Aside from Cali, it has been a pretty typical week. We had a few wrap up things for the basement re-do: a visit from California Closets to see the final room and to take some pictures and a phone interview with the editor today (a bit nerve wrecking at first thought but in reality so easy and a fun guy to talk to!) Dziadzu stopped over for a visit Monday afternoon and we enjoyed a walk and some fresh air before today’s snowy surprise. Mamie came yesterday and they all headed to Southwick for a change of pace. Mike and I headed to work and had a productive day. With this winter wonderland, my plans of having some friends over tonight have been postponed but I am using the night to catch up and do some work in the office. Certainly not as much fun but hopefully a sign that I can have even more fun once these projects are done!
Today we headed to the pediatrician’s for Aiden and Chris’s official three year check up’s. And… our boys are growing! Chris is 35 1/2 inches (9th%), weight 25.4 pounds (2nd%) and BMI 4%. I wish I could have a BMI like that! Aiden is 36 inches tall (16th%), 27.2 pounds (7th%) and BMI 13%. So the boys are still small but small is okay in my book. It means that they can still be carried as needed, although two at time is becoming harder and harder these days. The best news of all… we don’t have to go for extra weigh in appointments any more! Hipp hipp horray! I am beyond excited! We have lead blood work to do in the near future but no shots today. It was a win, win, well except maybe the boys moods and the fact that they have PINK EYE… yuck. This is a first for us and the Dr. took one look at me and guessed I may be next. We headed home and out to enjoy the snow. The boys even asked for a snow ball fight and proceeded to taunt me into trying to hit them. Okay, that didn’t take much. Who can resist, especially after they have been stinkers all day long? We made a snow igloo and to Aiden’s disappointment, I wasn’t able to make a door that opens and closes like Curious George has. I guess Aiden needs to be on the look out for his own Man in the Yellow Hat. In the meantime, Momma in her white hat and her 3 sided igloo will have to suffice.
My favorite moment of the day was as we were heading to the Dr.’s and walking to the driveway. Aiden stopped, bent down and started digging and I of course reminded him that we weren’t outside to play (meanie that I am!) He stood up and brought me one heck of a special rock, handing it over saying “here Momma, this one is special. It’s sparkly just for you. It’s for your birthday. Is it beautiful Momma?” Melt my heart…. best early (by 3 months) Birthday present ever! This Momma does love things that sparkle and someday he will make one woman feel so extra special but for today, I’ll gladly be that woman!
PS – Slides are SO much more fun in the slipper snow! Seriously…
PPS – Check out my previous two post with some free giveaways! Yippee!
