I must admit that I am too much of a planner to enjoy the last few weeks of this pregnancy. I find myself doing laundry EVERY night, cleaning things that don’t need to be cleaned DAILY… just in case and laying awake at 2 am, thinking about what would happen IF my labor were to start then… Yes, these are the last few nights/weeks of potential peace, quiet and time to myself but I simply can’t help it! There was security in being “ready” at 34 weeks when I delivered last and now there is frustration in trying to maintain night after night for the remaining month and a half :)
With school vacation week wrapping up, the boys and I have enjoyed a week of relaxation mixed in with a few fun getaways. Tuesday I went for my 37 week check up. Things are looking great and from what I’ve been told, they will likely do an internal exam this coming week. Outside of sleepless nights, I feel great but “ready.” Aiden and Chris enjoyed an afternoon with Mamie and had so much fun that when I arrived to pick them up, they asked to spend the night. School vacation week…. how could I say no? And they were SO excited! They squeeled and said “Momma, you never let us sleep over.” Cruel, cruel Mommy that I am for making them sleep at home on school nights. What a treat for everyone! They had a blast and met Grandpa for dinner at Friendlies while Mike took advantage of being able to work late and I met my friend Leeanne for a windy, fun walk.
Wednesday morning I picked up the boys and headed for a fun library play date with our friends Calvin, Tristan and Megan. The library is always a hit and we had so much fun catching up and burning some energy! We headed home for some lunch and packed up and headed out to South Hadley to check out a wedding shower venue for Laura. I met Grammie for the visit and Dziadzu was a good sport and agreed to meet us to watch Aiden and Chris during our appointment. The boys enjoyed spending time with Dziadzu outside and Grammie and I are thrilled to have a beautiful venue booked! Hooray, a score for everyone that afternoon!
Thursday the boys were thrilled to head to the Holyoke Children’s Museum with Dziadzu and I for the afternoon. They each had special agendas detailing how they wanted to spend their time. Each time we go, they fall in love with something new. Aiden was drawn to the fire truck and Chris to the water table. It was the perfect way to spend a windy, cooler afternoon. Thank you Dziadzu for being my second set of eyes!

Thursday night we celebrated Mike’s 33rd birthday early. We cooked a special birthday dinner, cake of Daddy’s choice and serenaded him with an attempt at singing Happy Birthday. Fun, indeed!

Friday we were thrilled to meet Mike at work for a birthday lunch. The boys love visiting Daddy at work and it was nice to see everyone at the office. It’s hard to believe but it’s been since last August that I have officially “worked in” the office. After visiting, we headed home and spent the afternoon outside, soaking up the sunshine. Mamie and Grandpa stopped over to visit and spoil Mike on his birthday and after the visit, I headed to a baby celebration with some of my friends from church. I had an awesome night and am so lucky to feel so loved and spoiled. We enjoyed delicious treats, beautiful decorations and fun company. He is one loved little boy!
I was oh so excited and hopeful to spend the entire day outside yesterday but the wind and cooler temps kept us bundled up inside until the sun shone and we made out way out after lunch. Mike worked part of the day and we were all excited to pack up and head out for a walk when he returned. The sun felt amazing and the boys had a blast rolling down the BIG hill at Suffield Academy. It never gets old and their energy is immediately recharged. Sometimes it’s tiring just to watch. We headed home to make a big mess of the yard as we started the much needed garden clean up. While it’s a work in progress, I feel better just knowing that we’ve started. The plants uncovered, trimmed and ready for a new season. We even ventured to our veggie garden to remove from mysterious piles of sand that were transported from the sandbox to our strawberry beds; we trimmed our blueberry bushes and raked out the garden. I must say that I am oh so thankful to have some amazing helpers in my life.
Unfortunately Chris had a rough night and was up with a fever and not feeling like himself. While he’s being a trooper his sad, “sick” eyes break my heart. I’m totally bummed to have missed church this morning and to have to reschedule our lunch date with the Locke’s. Fingers crossed that the rest of us stay germ free as the kiddos return to school this week and I start jumping jacks, marathon training and anything else that might help our little man arrive a bit early!
