Last week Aiden and Chris turned 4 1/2 and in light of the fact that we celebrate each week of age with Jacob, the boys felt it worthy to celebrate. After much discussion and negotiation, we settled on wrapping a few favorite toys from their own closets and “re-gifting” it to themselves. Simple and classic and the best part, without cost. We then had to explain that no, we wouldn’t be re-wrapping the contents of our entire house daily “for fun.” Oh to be four!
Our last week of summer has been spent having fun with friends and family. We celebrated Auntie Laura and Uncle Eric’s Birthdays and visited with Grammie and Dziadzu. Aiden and Chris had an afternoon ice cream date with Mamie and Grandpa. We checked out a new playground with our friends Steph, Ashley and Julia. We visited a favorite playground with our buddies Kym, Connor and Jake’s baby buddy Caityln We ran some errands, went to Jakes pediatrician appointment and tomorrow we are headed to visit our friends at Northeast Brokerage and enjoy lunch with our main squeeze, Mike. It’s been a week of fun as summer winds down. Next week we’re onto early rising and school routines.
With Mike home more now, we are finally catching up on some projects around our house. Maybe catching up isn’t the right choice of words, but perhaps maintaining is more accurate. For example, I last trimmed the scrubs around our house two weeks before Jake was born in an attempt to bring on labor. Failed attempt but for a few weeks I felt good about the fact that our house no longer looked abandoned. Well, the bushes have literally grown 4 feet each (I kid you not!) and are now “peaking” in our bedroom window. As further proof of just how bad it is, Chris says to Aiden yesterday “lets go exploring” and together they headed for the front scrubs. Time to invest in rock gardens or landscapers! But quite frankly, I attribute it all to the fact that we are living our life. Having fun. Enjoying the big and little moments. If we’re being honest, I guess I’m okay with our front jungle as it will be there tomorrow and the day after that. As for my 4 1/2 year olds and four month old, I think perhaps I should package them up and put them in a time capsule as they are growing all too big all too quick.
