Apparently our littlest man has thrown my blogging cadence for a loop. Life has been unpredictable and sleepless as you’d guess. My pictures taken and cute moments remembered by the end of the day are lacking. A better rhythm is forth coming… I just know it! If you have stuck with me, I thank you! My nights seems to turn into 10 minutes of free time and before I know it, Jake is ready to eat once again.
So, what have we been up to? We are a month into school and things are going well. Jake has finally realized that he can scream all that he wants in the car rides to and from school but Momma can’t do much to help. I think we are finally making headway in that we our rides are getting quieter and he is getting a bit more patient. The poor little man seems to bothered by his acid reflux again. He doesn’t eat much during the day and is up every 1.5 –2 hours through the night. Last week we started solid foods in an attempt to get him to feel better and sleep better. I’m not sure we received the results we desired but the good news is that he likes his fruits and veggies! Rice cereal was a flop. He gagged and spit it all back up… even with several attempts. We started with prunes since he is also constipated. I guess life as babe can be tough :) He did great and really enjoyed them. We did sweet peas next which took some time for him to be willing to eat (can’t blame him) then carrots and today squash. I forgot how quickly life can get messy. Literally! We have baby food splatter everywhere. If only the neighbors had a dog. Perhaps we could train Cali to do some clean up? If only…. Jake goes for a 5 1/2 month check up next week. I am hopeful the pediatrician will have some new suggestions for our poor little man. My dude is growing up too quickly. Chris loves to mimic me and can be heard saying to Jake “Hey little sweetie, who told you that you could get so big? No more growing up. We want you to be a baby forever.” Aiden and Chris continue to adore Jake. They fawn over him and are great helpers.
School for Aiden and Chris is going well. They loved the comfort of going back to a classroom that they knew with teachers that they were familiar with. They have both met some new friends this year and love coming home with stories about all of the “bad kids.” They are starting to learn cursive letter, love sounding out words and are working on counting in multiples of 5’s, 10’s etc. and counting backwards. They still continue to be creative little boys who love to make up stories. Chris especially is our story teller. He can fabricate anything and everything. They have just started getting into super hero's and love to play pretend. I am hoping to sneak in one more year of Halloween as stuffed, furry animals before they want to be dressed as action figures. We shall see…. Aiden is one of the hardest workers I’ve met. He continues to do chores on a regular basis and sets goals for himself as to how much he wants to save for certain toys on his wish list. Chris on the other hand is a busy body and in the time Aiden has completed one chore, Chris has somehow managed to play with 5 different things {and of course “forgot” to put them all away!}
Jake and I have been walking in the mornings while the boys are at school. The weather has been ideal and we have a friend that we meet several days a week to the company makes the time pass quickly. Our afternoons tend to fill up and I have yet to figure out how it could possibly be almost October! My dear sister is getting married in a bit over a week. I swear we should still have months to prepare and get excited. How can we possibly be down to days? We are psyched! The nerves will set in next week as I start to practice my maid of honor speech… eeek!
Last weekend Aiden and Chris were lucky enough to be swept away to Belchertown to spend some time at Grammie and Dziadzu’s. Grammie and Dziadzu were kind enough to refinance their house to allow Aiden and Chris far too many rides and treats at the fair. The boys were spoiled none the less and are still talking about it daily.
This week has been a week of appointments. Mike met our new MD for the first time and I went for a follow up with her today. We are both pleased to have her and Mikes and I are both alive and well. I have yet more MD appointments made as a result but I’m going to see an orthopedic surgeon for my hip pain and a general surgeon for a possible umbilical hernia. Life is never dull and we are certainly making this a year where we get what we pay for with insurance! Dziadzu braved the THREE boys alone… for 3 hours as they took me in super duper late! He was a SUPER star and I am forever indebted to him for being willing to come solo and super last minute. My little Jakey who has early stranger anxiety didn’t cry a tear when he was with Dziadzu. What a feat!
As if my wallet wasn’t emptied enough this week, I made my way to the dentist on Tuesday to have my retainer fixed. It was quite likely the easiest appointment ever and while I feel like I am 12 years old again with a sore mouth as my teeth re-adjust I am oh so thankful to my parents for putting me in braces despite the battles I am sure I gave them.
The weather has been absolutely amazing. I snuck out with my friends Leeanne and Leora on Monday night for a walk. The weather was perfect and we always have fun catching up! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we get this lucky weather wise through next weekend for Laura’s wedding. I’ll be back to share some details and pics, likely after the festivities have passed but here’s some cuteness in the meantime. These little men may give me a run for my money and may keep me on my toes… always but man oh man do I love these little faces and entertaining personalities.
I have to share two Aiden stories and one Chris.
Upon arriving home from my Dr. appointment today, I asked the boys if Daddy had given Jake his medicine yet. Aiden quickly answered “no but Dziadzu did a great job breast feeding Jakey!” Really Dziadzu, wow… good for you! Aiden quickly corrected himself with my smirk and said “I mean Dziadzu did a good job with the bottle feeding.”
After Dziadzu left today, I said “Did you have a good time with Dziadzu, buddy?” Aiden replied “No, I just didn’t get my fill of him yet.” Oh how they love their Dziadzu!
At dinner tonight Chris was talking about everything and nothing. Mike and I were having a conversation as well and Chris chimes in and says “Oh they don’t make things quite like they used to back in my day….” When I asked him where he heard that he replied “I just made it up….” Oh kids.
