Sleep is for the weary….

There have been entirely too many boxes of tissue used….

Too much children’s ibuprofen consumed…

And too many sleepless nights to have the enthusiasm to post a blog.

But…..

That’s not to say that we haven’t had some special happenings!

This weekend I celebrated the anticipated arrival of one of my dear friend’s babies.  It’s such a blessing to have friends that you’ve known for longer than you haven’t.  My friend Leora is just that and in a few weeks, she is going to be a new mom.  So sweet and so special!  I just can’t wait to meet her little one and find out if there will be a new boy playmate or a new girlfriend!

Aiden and Chris received a special Christmas present from Auntie Stephie…. their first pair of ice skates.  They have been dying to use them.  Dying!  Each day is was cold {safe to assume that is nearly everyday!} they’ve asked us to take them out.  Let’s be honest, clearing a plot of ice isn’t the most appealing task.  Especially when you know that you’ve got two energetic first time skaters who may need A LOT of guidance.  Well, this weekend was the perfect opportunity to get their first stab at life on the ice.

Mike brought Aiden and Chris to Simsbury Farms where they met up with friends from our church for a fun skating party.  I was oh so bummed when our little man who hadn’t slept or napped for four days finally succumbed to a nap, just in time to leave for the party.  As you would expect, he woke 5 minutes after they left but poor Jake needed the quite, relaxing down time at home more than he needed the excitement of the skating party.  So home is where we stayed and I anxiously waited by my cell phone to live the experience through text messages and a few pictures from Mike.  Thank goodness for technology!

And after yet another rough sleepless night with Jake, we packed up and headed to Boston to the Celtics game today.   A first for Jake and the second experience for Aiden and Chris, we all had a blast. Mammie and Grandpa shared quite the treat as they rented a “box” where we had a private bathroom, awesome seats, catered food and delightful company.  We are spoiled indeed and although I can’t say I am a diehard fan, it was two thumbs up experience. The best part of it all, we got to see the 1984 trophy in person AND they won!  And…. our company made it to the big TV screens on the court!  Woo hoo!

Now off to catch up on laundry and all of the other wonderful chores that don’t seem to get done on their own!
