So much to celebrate

Today was special.  A day of anticipation. A day to remember.  In place of hosting a “friend” birthday for Aiden and Chris, we chose to share a memorable “experience” with them.

Some may think it silly but our first stop this year was Chucky Cheese.  We were newbies there and the boys have friends at school that visit often, hence enhancing their desire to visit.  They’ve asked for weeks months to go and I finally got over my fear of mega germs, packed my sanitizer and off we went.  They had a blast.  We blew through handfuls of tokens in no time at all.  We watched their classic “show”, enjoyed some pizza, played some games, investigated the climbing structures, and scrubbed ourselves down from head to toe before heading home.

Mike and I had given the boys the option of going to see the Lego Movie or going bowling as their afternoon activity.  Being the disagreeable five year olds that we now reside with, they could not agree…. We went back and forth, discussed the pros and cons and tried to sell them on both activities individually but they would not budge.  Aiden wanted to bowl and Chris wanted the movie.  There was no persuading.  So in keeping in mind that it was their special day and they do share everything, we agreed to give them both an afternoon out doing what they wanted.

Daddy and Aiden headed out first for two fun rounds of bowling.  Aiden was proud as can be and loved this alone time and his first experience in the alleys.

Shortly after returning home, Daddy headed out with Chris, bound for the much anticipated Lego Movie.  Mike reported that Chris had many questions throughout the movie and quickly learned to quiet his voice for the good of everyone around him.  He had a blast and came home beyond excited.

I held down the fort with the lone older ranger and our little man as they were out and about but being a man of his word, Mike sent pictures so I could share in the joy.

What a day and what fun to be five!

Of note, we also enjoyed a fun playdate earlier this week with our friends the Lockes.  We also wrapped up our week with a playdate with our buddies, the Tetreaults.

My dear friend Leora welcomed her first born, Everett and I was beside myself excited to meet this precious little guy on Friday night. Babies are such blessings!

I even managed to sneak out earlier this week with my friend Leeanne for a super cute chick flick.

Thursday Jake and I stopped into the school to deliver the boys birthday popcorn to their classrooms.  A two hour snow and ice delay cancelled our plans to participate in the class party but they still enjoyed the snack just the same.

Friday, Christopher’s class welcomed the families to a rescheduled {thank you again NE winter weather} Valentines Day breakfast.  Mike, Jake and I all attended and Chris was proud as can be.  Aiden was allowed to sneak a brief visit as well and the class met their goal and raised the funds they needed for their new aquaphonics set up for his classroom.  It was so fun to see Chris in his working environment and to be introduced to some of his new favorite buddies.

Phew… what a week with another busy one ahead!
