Ohhh Mr. Sun!

As Jake continues to explore new words with his baby babble, he has formed a version of Aiden’s name and is quick to use it to get his attention.  I am fairly certainly that he thinks Chris and Aiden are both different people yet doesn’t understand that they have different names.  Feeling hurt and left out, Chris wanted to know why Jake wasn’t saying his name.  I attempted to explain that certain sounds are easier for babies to make than others.  We went through Jake’s current list of vocabulary which includes: Momma, Dadda, dat {that}, cat, & Aiden. Within seconds Chris’s face lite up and he exclaimed, “That’s it… I’ve got it.  Jake can call me cat.”  He then went on to reason that he loved cats when he was younger so it was a perfect fit. Try talking a stubborn five year old out of his grand plan, explaining that we don’t want to confuse a baby.  Highlighting that if we call Chris “Cat” then Jake will never know what a real cat it.  I think we finally won the battle.  Phew!

As you can see from the photos above, Jake is entering a book phase and is loving touch and feel books…. so fun to watch!  Jake is also a big fan of sippy cups with straws and tried real cows milk for the first time today.  So far so good.  I can’t believe we’re already getting close to the age of transition!  Eeek! And finally, Jake has finally found his tongue and is having too much fun discovering all of the fun things he can do with it, so please don’t be offended if we see you in the coming weeks and he is “catching flies” when he see’s you!

In other news, Christopher and Aiden are still on a kick of wanting to change their names.  This week Aiden was Benjamin Hopkins, an air force pilot while Christopher was President Nathaniel Hopkins.  I do hope the imaginative play and creative conversations never cease.

Meet your future president.  Dressed and ready to serve complete with jingly pockets brimming with change…..image (8)

Attention fashion police.  I won’t mention any names but our very first born may have left the house this morning looking like this and feeling very proud!

And while I’m sharing random moments, take a look at this.  A double occupied top bunk has become a common occurrence.  I can’t imagine having a brother, best friend and roommate all in one….

And finally, I’m really not sure how this happened but I found Jake’s first “selfie” on MY phone!  This must be a modeling pose as he’s captured a great angle that makes him look so tall.  Not too shabby for a 10 month old!
