My posts are lacking this week. Despite dozens of attempts to get into Windows Live Writer for my blogging I am repeatedly kicked out. So here I am, "old school" blogging format again. I've got too much goodness to share so for now I'll deal with this crummy format.
With this summer weather our schedule seems to kick into high gear. We love being busy and are loving spending the days and early evenings outside. We've enjoyed several play dates and Aiden and Chris are loving T-Ball every Wednesday night and every Saturday morning. The big boys are also totally in love with our new neighbor Hunter. Hunter is 8 years old and in their world, he's got super hero status. The days are spent counting down until Hunter will get home from daycare. Hunter also has an older sister, Olivia who is 10 and is pretty fond of Jake. She loves to pull out all of her tricks to make Jacob happy. All free time is spent planning their next move for when Hunter gets home.
Jacob has been busy little beaver. He took his first steps on his own just over a week ago. Lord knows I don't have a brain so for documenting purposes, it was Thursday May 8th and he took 5 steps walking to me in the kitchen with a ball in his hand. Chris and Aiden were beside themselves excited and Jake continued to show off his skills when Mike got home. He was delighted to hear everyone cheering for him. He has yet to make further progress but seems to slowly be gaining the confidence to move on his own. Jacob's also started saying "plane" and "vacuum." He loves to spot planes in the sky and being so close to Bradley Airport, there is never a shortage and he has always had an obsession with the vacuum. In other eventful Jacob news, from what we can tell, he may be getting his top two teeth in the near future. He's still only working with his lower two middle teeth but he doesn't let that stop him. He loves food and is quite adventurous. We've come across very little that he doesn't like. His latest lovely habit it to "clear" his tray by throwing anything and everything from his highchair tray to the floor. I don't stand a chance against the messes in this house lately as he also loves to dump things.... just for fun. I am quickly reminded of this stage with Aiden and Chris as if it were just yesterday. I can also say that we are officially done nursing. It was bittersweet but we are still enjoying nighttime snuggles and Mike is thrilled to finally be able to participate in bedtime and enjoy some cuddles himself. Jake is still doing great sleeping through the night and is sleeping about 6:30 pm - 5:30 am. He's taking two naps for about an hour each and overall is a pretty jolly little man. He hates being in the car and would love to be on the move at all times. He loves to be the focus of everything and is well on his way to perfecting the art of manipulation.
Mike and I have compiled an extensive list of projects that we would like to get done around the house. This month marks 7 years since we moved in and we are now at the point of having to re-do everything that hasn't been re-done since we first moved in. I finally finished painting the living room and kitchen last month and painting our front hall this weekend. I loved the color we had and went to Home Depot for a color match to "freshen up." Unfortunately Home Depot did a sub-par job on the color match of their own color and I was left with a totally different color. I have decided that it's good enough for now. Because we love painting so much I also painted our garage doors and we started the process of painting all of the wood on our back porch and back deck. This is no small feat and Mike and I are both pleased with the outcome but longing to put the project behind us.
We're anxious to get our garden started and have several starters that I started from seed weeks ago. We also picked up several more at the greenhouse today and we're hoping to have a good stellar garden this year. After all, I found a four-leaf clover next to the garden today so that can only mean good things, right?
What's not to love about this time of the year!?!
