The lows.

Oh what a week. Mike has been super Dad as Jake and I were down with the flu last week {for a full LONG week}, followed by Aiden and Chris this weekend.  With a never ending to-do list of which illness was not a part of, I was discouraged to get set back but as we know, that’s life.  I spent all too much time on my computer planning out our new space and online window shopping.

Yesterday I finally went for the plunge and had my carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist.  It’s been an ongoing issue since the age of 18 and with our recent projects to get our house sold, I found myself awake in agony all too many nights.  I was able to meet with the Dr. two weeks ago and quickly lined up my pre-op last week and surgery was schedule within two weeks.  My mother in law was our saving grace yesterday as we were pelted with snow and another day off of school.  She gracious shared her day with our three little amigos at home while Mike and I braved the weather for a long trip out to Eastern CT and back.  The roads were horrendous but I was not about to give up this opportunity.  The surgery went well and Mike was a great sport taking the day to take care of me.  While I am admittedly a bit more uncomfortable than I had anticipated I am also admittedly at fault as I reluctant to take the prescribed pain medication.  I’m not sure pain killers and motherly roles go well together Smile It’s the little things like tying my shoes, opening jars, writing, buckling seat belts and finding sleeves that fit over my bulky arm that I’m finding difficult but I’m on the home front and anxious to have my new “working” hand just in time to put it to work at the new house!  Let the projects begin!

And my poor Dooby Jake has been under the weather.  From pink eye and cough/cold two weeks ago to the flu last week and a burst ear drum this week.  My heart wants to cry for him.  He is such a trooper and so tolerant to pain {for better and worse}.   To add it it all, he’s got three molars and a few top teeth that the pediatrician confirmed this morning are coming in quick. He’s understandably been out of sorts but still so excited about the newly fallen snow and eager to get outside to play.

Aiden and Chris have been enjoying their extra time at home.  With all of the freshly fallen snow, they are in the glory.  They were hit with the flu Friday-Saturday but recovered quickly and were back to their old games by Sunday.  They’ve waited for the day that the snow is almost as tall as they are and I think its safe to say we’re getting close.  They loved all of the super bowl hype and while they were in bed and asleep by 7:30, they watched the highlights with Mike on the snowy Monday morning off and quickly jumped into drawing each and every NFL team icon.  They’ve been busy beavers and it’s been helping with these unbearably long, cold days.  I continue to remind myself that we are already in February and spring is in sight!

And while the week was filled with less than pleasant surprises, we did have a visit from Dziadzu and Grammie and Mamie and Grandpa on Sunday to brighten the weekend…. and Grandparent visits simply can’t be beat!
