When its just plain worth it

Mike’s a great sport.  He’s usually game for most of my crazy projects, especially when they don’t involve more work for him but every once in a while he gives me the look like I’ve jumped off the deep end.  Like when I told him that I wanted to make the laundry room prettier.  My thought is that if you’re going to spend quite a bit of time somewhere, doesn’t it help when it’s a cheerful place that you’re happy to be in?

And so it began with simply painting the walls.  As I’ve mentioned the entire house was in need of a fresh coat of paint.  I can deal with dirt and marks on the wall {usually!} but only when I know it’s a mess that we’ve created.  I’ve been using a simple creamy white color upstairs to keep it clean, fresh and airy.  The boys bathroom, the main hall upstairs and now the laundry room are all decked out in Sherwin Williams White Heron.  It’s crisp and it’s serving it’s purpose.  The cracks were filled {and we had far too many at that!  With temps below 20 degrees indoors throughout the winter last year, the poor paint cracked, peeled and looked sad here, there and everywhere.} The painters tape was hung and the walls were painted two coats.  I fancied up the wall behind the washer with a hand stencil {thank you Jone’s Design for the inspiration}.  The ugly metal shelves were removed and I made full length wood shelves.  It’s a cheerful place, so come visit and bring your laundry.. I’ll provide the detergent!
