Mike left yesterday for California for two nights and three days. Dziadz (Grandpa Pt.) has been staying with us since Mike left and has been a great help with the boys! He is mastering their likes, dislikes, fussy times and signs of impending emotional breakdowns. He was also the extra hand that I needed to get through the night time feedings without a disaster. It is killing Mike to be away and I think it was only a matter of about 4 hours before he called during a layover yesterday to say that he was home sick already. He is so in love with the boys so of course all of the picture texts that we, okay, I sent of the boys (with signs saying "We miss you Daddy") aren't helping the cause. The boys are just hoping that there aren't many more west coast trips in the near future although they really love their Dziadz time.
Today the boys went to Springfield to have their consultation with the Pediatric Surgeon for their circumcisions. The weather was a bit drizzly and the boys weren't too sure about the rain drops that managed to sneak into their carriers but they were a hit once we got into the office. Everyone wanted to know how old the boys were and were inquiring about whether they were twins, etc. The office was super crowded and of course running behind schedule but once we got to see the Dr., the appointment went well. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the Dr. came in for a quick 5 minute look over and said that we are good to go and can schedule their appointments within the next few weeks. I have to call to set the date tomorrow since the procedures will be done at Baystate. The Dr. said that within 48 hours after the procedure, the boys should be back to their old selves. I just hope that those 48 hours aren't too bad. I guess only time will tell.
Our exciting news for the day is that the boys were weighed in today. We aren't getting our hopes up super high because the measurements were done on a different scale than normal, but we got a small preview of their weight gain before their official weigh in next week. The boys did have onesies and clean diapers on for their weigh in's today and typically they are weighed naked but the exciting news is that Aiden weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces and Christopher weighed in at 6 pounds, 8 ounces. I am guessing the clothes and diapers weighed 2-3 ounces but I am still thrilled with their progress and hope that this gain is confirmed at their next appointment on April 1st.
Tomorrow the boys are going on their first road trip to meet Great Grandma Babci (Beth's Grandmother) for the first time. Babci lives in Bristol, CT which is about a 45 minute drive so Dziadz, the boys and I are going to get up and leave early tomorrow morning and stay for a quick visit in between feedings. Mike comes home tomorrow and I know the boys will be thrilled to see their favorite pal, their Daddy and I am confident the feelings will be mutual!
