Aiden (L) and Chris (R) take a break from "swimming" to enjoy a cold refreshing drink.
What gorgeous weather! We were certainly out enjoying it this week!
On Thursday the boys had eye exams as a follow up since they were premies. Dziadz went along as a second set of hands and I was so thankful to have the help as the boys had an initial exam, received eye drops then had to be contained for 20 minutes in a tiny waiting room while the drops worked their magic. Having Dziadz helped as we were both able to walk around and chase the boys down one on one. The boys did great and were troopers through the appointments. This appointment was much less invasive then their initial appointment and the doctor said that everything looks great so far. He has no concerns about needing glasses at this point and we have 2 years off before we need to be seen again! Yeah all around!!!
On Thursday afternoon we met Juliet and Kameron for some fresh air and sunshine in Agawam. Aiden and Chris were both less than pleased with me about being in their strollers but thankfully Juliet and Kameron were good sports and still admitted to knowing us despite the screeching fest! Of course as we turned around and reached the cars, both boys were asleep and content as can be. Go figure! I can't complain though because it gave me some snuggle time with my favorite little man, Kameron. I had forgotten how nice it is to have a baby snuggle in and be content just being held. No, that doesn't mean we will be having more kids anytime soon, it just means that I am so lucky to have so many friends that have and will be having newborns so there are plenty to borrow :)
On Friday we had a playdate with Caroline and Mathieu. Poor Caroline, technically she is my playdate but everytime I blog about our get togethers I make it sound as if she is one of the kids. We had a blast and really enjoyed catching up. Mathieu came to our house so the boys were plenty happy showing off and sharing their plethora of toys.
I forgot to mention that last Friday morning was a special morning for Chris and Aiden. We had a PT and OT visit from Early Intervention to evaluate their progress. The boys LOVED their play time and definitely pulled out all of their tricks. Mike took the day off from work so it was super nice to have him here so that we could both work with one specialist and one boy. When they do the evaluations, they compare the boys with kids their own age and do not "adjust back" for the 6 weeks that they came early. For us, it worked to our benefit. The boys were on target in all areas but two. They were a bit delayed in communication and feeding/self help skills. Neither were a surprise to Mike and I and we were actually thrilled to have our concerns validated and addressed. The boys will be having Karli, our new OT come for a visit for 4 hours a month. We haven't worked out a schedule yet but I am so excited to have her suggestions and feedback and I am very much looking forward to getting on track.
Getting back to our week, we had a busy one! On Friday night Mike and I hung out at the Chotkowski's with all of my Belchertown friends. We had such a good time. It was a "last fling" thing before two new babies arrive... baby Chotkowski and baby Sylvestre! More snuggle time... I can't wait! I am so lucky to have such amazing girlfriends that have been a part of my life for years and years and still like me anyway!
We stayed at Grammie & Dziadz's on Friday night so that they could keep an ear open for the boys while we had Mommy & Daddy adult time out. Dziadz and Grammie loved their visit and GG Mimi stopped over to say hi too! GG Mimi brought blackberries as a treat for the boys and Aiden now has a new favorite food and could and has made an entire meal out of blackberries. He broke in his new love by having about 25 for dinner at Grammie & Dziadz's on Friday night!
On Saturday morning Laura, my mom and I went to celebrate at Kym Sylvestre's baby shower. The shower was so much fun. We had a great time and I got to see the ladies again for a second day in a row. What a treat! Daddy spent the morning and the afternooon with the boys as I came home from the shower and headed out for a night on the town to celebrate Dana's Bachelotte Party. Dana will be married in less than 3 weeks so we headed out for some rock climbing, dinner, a scavenger hunt (in the ghetto's of New Haven) and relaxing in the hotel (with a few drinks, lots of food and a fun cake!) One thing I learned for sure is that I am not as young as I used to be. I got home about 2 am and could have used some assistance from the energizer bunny to make it through the day. I am officially old as it seems like not long ago, I was pulling all nights with no after effects the next day. Uggh! Dana's friends are SO much fun and I think we are all pumped for the wedding! Dana was a great sport and is going to make such a beautiful bride!
Today we are recovering. Mike and I had nursery duty at church this morning and we headed home to do some chores, laundry, etc. Mike then headed to Grammie & Grandpa Hopkins to watch the Masters Tournament and I stayed home to clean up and catch up. Yes, two days away from the boys. I am certainly missing them but enjoyed the chance to rake, cut the schrubs, scrub the deck and work in my garden! Its back to the grind tomorrow but we had a fun, wonderful weekend!
