Although he may be wearing a serious face, its only because tractors mean serious boy business! Chris and Grandpa going for a ride on Grandpa's riding lawn mower, aka tractor!

Shortly after posting on Wednesday night, we had some excitement involving our lovely, declawed indoor fur head, Cali. At around 10 pm, I heard some squeeking coming from the porch. Mike went to check it out and called Cali inside only to discover that she was not alone! In tow she had a lovely little mouse friend ALIVE and in her mouth! At being called inside, she dropped the mouse which quickly scurried away INSIDE the house! Ugggh.... my worst nightmare. There is something truly creepy about mice to me. I think it stems back to my childhood when Laura and Dan's creepy little hampsters would escape and be inside of our couches or in my parents bed on night. Needless to say, a mouse is about as scary as a big black bear to me. So yes, as you can imagine, I was standing on the table hoping that Mike could do something but instead, I spent 20 minutes on the table only to give up and hope that he mouse wouldn't find its way to our bedroom. Thankfully Cali was back on night patrol and had the mouse captured when we woke up. Good kitty, paying her keep! As just when we thought all was quiet, we hear small little noises over the boys intercom. You can bet your bippy (what a fun word!) that I was not about to get out of bed and chance an encounter with the mouse. Mike being the brave man that he is went to investigate to find our little guy, Chris playing with his computer in the dark in his bedroom at 10:45 pm. I guess the little guy had some work that he needed to get done. It was pretty cute and helped take the focus off of the scary mouse that was lerking in the house at the time. Thankfully, we all survived the mouse and haven't seen a trace... yet...
There is nothing better than a successful day of "nothing" and Thursday was just that! We have been trying to stay busy during the week to keep the boys happy and to tire them out but Thursday we had nothing planned. We went for our usual walk and lounged and played for the remainder of the day. The weather was perfect and the boys seemed to enjoy the "down time." I of course went stir crazy and by the time Mike came home from work, I was having cabin fever and headed out for some grocery shopping and most importantly, I went out to invest in some mouse traps... a new necessity!
Luckily, we had some fun plans to look forward to for Friday morning when we met our friend Leeanne at the new splash park in South Hadley. They boys had a blast and surprisingly were more interested in the shredded tire material that covered the ground than they were with the water festivities and play grounds. We had such a fun morning and Leeanne was such a great sport to give up her morning off from work to chase around two energy filled toddlers! The weather was absolutely perfect and the boys were sound asleep 5 minutes into our car ride home - the sign of a perfect morning!
This has been a surprisingly quiet weekend which was nice for a change. Yesterday Mike played golf in the morning and had some time out with some good friends. Later in the afternoon, Grammie and Dziadz Pt. came for a visit and watched Aiden and Chris so that Mike and I could have some time out, just the two of us. We checked out Stanley Park and enjoyed an absolutely perfect adult night. The boys were in their glory, constantly showing off for Grammie & Dziadz and loving every minute of the attention they were getting! It was a great visit for all of us!
This morning we went to church and the boys were thrilled to check out the new toys that they had in the nursery. They got great reports for behaving well and seemed to really enjoy their time with new friends and new places to check out! After naps we headed over to visit Grammie & Grandpa Hopkins. Uncle Andrew is now home from NY! Aiden and Chris LOVED running around Grammie & Grandpa's and the hot item of the day was Grandpa's riding lawn mower - aka "tractor." Tractor was also the word of the day and I have never seen the boys use sign language for "more" more than they did today to get to sit on the tractor. They were in love and continued to sign for "more" the entire ride home. What a great visit and an enjoyable afternoon!
