Spring

I have to admit that while I love spring and the longer days that it brings, the sun was hitting my kitchen yesterday in such a way that it made me reconsider.  With just the right light, my entire counter looked (of which was just washed) looked like it needed to be scrubbed.  I got in the car to go to work and discovered two new gray hairs in this new light.  Hmm… spring, I love you but I’m not sure that you’re doing much for my sanity at this point.

We are still on the mend this week from the colds that hit us at the end of last week.  Mike and Aiden both had Dr. appointments on Monday to test for strep throat but both came back clear.  I guess the best news yet is that with the warmer weather coming this week, we can get outside and enjoy some fresh air… germ free!

Mike and I moved some things into the office this week and are starting to get a handle on feeling organized again. We continue to love our new space and Mike even worked from home for part of the day Monday which was nice.  There is something comforting about having him home even if he’s not really “home.”

Aiden and Chris continue to be typical 3 year olds… challenging. When they are good, they are great but when they decide to challenge you, they are masters at knowing how to push your buttons.  They both love to read stories and would literally sit for hours listening.  I don’t think anything holds their attention quite like reading.  They are super make believers, playing Thomas the Train, Dziadzu, Dziadzu’s cat, Crammer.. you name it.  It’s hysterical to listen to.  With the lighter mornings, they sleep less and play more. They ask good questions and demand answers be repeated… at least 3 times each.  I guess that’s part of the learning curve for all of us.  They are caring and loving and are one another’s best cheerleaders.  Just this week Aiden was really upset about having to go to the Dr.’s to have his ears checked.  He has never given me a hard time about Dr.’s appointments so this was a new stint for all of us.  Chris (while on the potty) yells to Aiden (laying on the floor, refusing to put on his coat and shoes) “remember the last time you were to the Dr,’s Aidy.  You were SO SO SO brave!”  And that was just what he needed and off we went.  Lately the roles are typically opposite of the example mentioned above where Chris is putting up the fight and Aiden is my go with the flow man.  I count myself lucky that I only have one spoiled egg head at a time.

So we figure we have paid our dues with illness this year and we are ready to move on to a healthy, awesome and cheerful spring and summer!  Can’t have it any other way, right?

Early signs of spring from our 60 degree day today!

And yes, those are some surprise flowers peaking out of the ground above, lining our driveway (and of course there are two muddy, wet little men thrown in the mix too!
