I must brag for a minute. It was no surprise to walk away from our two teachers conferences yesterday as proud as can be. Aiden and Chris both received glowing reviews from their teachers with high praises given. They are dedicated, bright, hardworking little men and oh so ready to be official kindergarteners next year! Chris is diving into addition and subtraction while Aiden has mastered these tasks and is moving onto division and multiplication. They are learning the early foundations of reading and are loving to write. Their creativity is flowing and it’s making our decision over their school of choice for next year oh so difficult. Buses are an option for Annie Fisher for kindergarten but they would be the first on and last off with pick up at 6:50 am, followed by an hour and a half on the bus, arriving home after an hour and twenty minutes, just before 5 pm. Seems a bit much for a five year old. Sure, I can drive them but with Jake getting older, our family dynamics are changing and to be honest we are all tiring of the long drive, sometimes back and forth four times a day. Decisions, decisions… tough ones at that!
This weather has been beyond amazing! It’s hard to have the sun set and the day come to a close when the temperatures feel oh so perfect!
We’ve had a weekend of catching up. I’ve been working on spackling, priming and painting our front bathroom and if we’re being honest. I hate it. I bought a sample and tried it out. The 6 inch “test” block looked great until it took over the whole room and now it looks like Easter everyday in there. I have decided that I am officially the worst paint chooser ever. The room is green. Very green. I had a more subtle, grayish blue in mind. I’ve got some tweaking and coat #3 of a different color up on the docket.
Mikes and Aiden have spent countless days and hours chopping and staking wood from the trees we had taken down recently. We’ve all got spring fever and are ready to dive into our outdoor projects. I’ve got some pansies planted and it’s feeling cheerful around our pad. Decorations and planning for Jake’s first birthday are well underway. We’ve spent lots of time with the doors open, out on the porch and breaking in the swingset. The outdoor playdates at Elizabeth Park started back up this week for Annie Fisher and all three of the boys had a blast!
Tomorrow we are delivering a meal to friends with a new baby, heading to church to work in the nursery, sneaking over to my in-laws to borrow their power washer, heading home for lunch and heading back out to visit Grandma Tess. The kiddos are going to have their first “go” at an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon. I’ve got an armoire to paint for our old school clunker TV in our bedroom and I’ve got big plans for the brick in the front of our house. Pictures to come and many projects to keep us out of trouble!
