Hip hip hooray! I am finally back up and running at full speed! It may have taken the help of a computer technician and 30 minutes on the phone but I am hopeful that I can recommit to blogging with regularity and I am oh so excited!
So, Jacob is walking full speed ahead. He has learned to use his adorable little three wheeled bike with confidence {a creative and well loved birthday gift from Uncle Danny… kudos my friend!} and he is still working on his second top tooth. He has been frequenting nightly visits for the past week and Mike and I have been staying strong and resistant to giving in when he wakes up crying. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly am a weakling in this area but we give him the chance to settle himself down before running in to the rescue. He is loving the warm weather, swimming and exploring the yard.
Jacob’s favorite words and phrases are: “whatsthat” “cat” “vacoom” “Momma” “Dadda” “food” “all done”. His also loves to “yiggle” as we like to call it. This was something that Aiden and Chris loved to do and a forgotten treasure that Jake has reminded us all of.
Jacob loves to shop. Just this morning he had his first dressing room experience. Needing some new shorts, I headed to Target on our way home from dropping the boys off for school. With Jake in the front pack, trying on shorts was a whole new experience and the ultimate test of my balance and coordination. It would be fair to say that we turned it into a game and Jake now loves dressing rooms. Poor boy, lets hope he forgets these little details of his childhood!
Jacob would be best described as curious, bubbly, adventurous, attention seeking, observant and like the rest of the family, strong willed!
His worst habits are clearing his food tray by throwing everything on the floor except of course with mini chocolate chips {don’t ask}, watermelon and blueberries {you can’t waste your favorite foods!} and forgetting that he is capable and expected to sleep through the night.
His most endearing qualities are his ability to snuggle, his love for kids and animals, and his ability to pick up on social cues and chime in as appropriate {laughing, playing shy, running away and giving me the mischief eye!}
Jake is currently taking an hour morning nap and an hour afternoon nap and sleeps 7 pm – 5:30 am…. we don’t raise sleepers in this household!
As for the big boys…..
Aiden and Chris are down to their final week and a half of school… so bittersweet. We have confirmed our decision to transfer them to Suffield for kindergarten this fall and have been feeling guilty ever since. Funny, but it almost feels like a breakup with a boyfriend/girlfriend. We’ve met some amazing families and we’ve loved the encouragement that the boys have received from their teachers but in trying to balance our changing schedules and new obligations this fall, having them closer to home seems like the kind of simplicity we will need. The boys are excited about the prospect of having no uniforms with everyday being a “be yourself day” {Annie Fisher has one day each year where they can wear whatever they want to participate in “be yourself day.” I’ve got plans for a little Mommy date as the first day of school nears to let them pick out a few special outfits for this big change. They love their friends and routine and being a bit rigid myself, I do too. We all thrive on predictability so this will be a change for everyone. I just hope we’re making the right decision and having my biggest boy come home with a math worksheet where he’s adding numbers in the thousands doesn’t help with the guilt. They are smarty pants indeed!
Aside from the end of school drawing near, the big boys first season of T-Ball is coming to a close. They’ve been playing twice a week for just shy of 2 months and are cute as can be, really loving the social aspect it but not quite understanding the game yet. They’ve had great coaches that are as patient as can be and are excited to play again next year.
Aiden and Chris are loving to read and write. They love chapter books and are very into airplanes and space crafts {coincidentally our new neighbor, their eight year old idol is as well!} The boys love doing crafts {I am a happy hearted Momma!} and love to play outside. They could catch bugs, play pretend and rip apart the garage all day long and be as happy as two pigs in mud.
Aiden’s favorite food is ice cream and Chris’s is likely popsicles. They are really good at understanding what it means to eat a “balanced” meal but are still very light eaters.
When faced with options, the boys {Aiden in particular} loves to ask “well what would Dziadzu do?” My lucky Dad, their current idol!
Christopher has been known to change outfits 5-10 times a day. I wish I was kidding and lately, the outfits mimic those of our neighbor with many moments of frustration when we don’t have exactly what Hunter has.
As for this summer, we’ve got two vacations on the docket. A week in Maine with my family and a week in the Cape with Mike’s family. The boys will be doing vacation bible school for a week and swim lessons for two weeks. We’ve also got big plans for play dates galore! We must stay busy to stay sane!
These boys are growing and we are trying hard to live in the moment as these moments are all so precious.
On that note, I must take advantage of a quiet Jakey nap before we go to pick up the big brothers… off I go to so some majorly postponed chores!
Pictures to come…. soon…. no excuses now that I have my live write back!!!!!
