I am a morning person. Willing to give up sleep for quiet or productive ALONE time… Most days I’ve got great intentions but often find myself with company. Ahh the joys and unpredictability of motherhood. Selfishly I love to start my day with “me time.” A few weeks ago I headed outside for my first outdoor runs. You may not believe me but it’s addictive and it’s been a part of my routine ever since. Sad as it is, I find myself tossing and turning, looking at the clock starting at 5 am daily, weekends included so why not make the most of it, right?
I came across this quote recently and thought it was so fitting…..
And well, with a sunrise like this half way through your run, who’s going to complain?
Speaking of runs, I am one proud Momma! This past weekend was the Suffield Fireman’s 5K race and for the first time, our big boys joined in the fun, running/walking the ENTIRE thing! With minimal complaints, they did phenomenal. Mike was a sport of all sports and ran with them while I took advantage of truly trying to “race” with Jake in tow in the stroller. It’s been a year since I’ve run pushing a stroller and let me tell you, it’s an entirely different work out. I surprised myself and was able to push through at 25:28. In hindsight there were places here and there that I could have pushed myself a bit harder and made it back in under 25 minutes but perhaps I’ll save that for next year {or run stroller-less! and “cheat”}! In seeing the stats posted today, I placed second for my age division and although I should be pleased with that, I was beat by 14 seconds… 14 seconds… that is the 3 times that Jake tossed his binky and I had to back track to get it. I’ve learned that I am far more competitive than I would like to admit! It’s a good thing I love that little stinker an awful lot! This has become such a community event and being our 4th year running it, its become something that we’ve come to look forward to.
Check out these handsome little racers……They both made it in in under 44 minutes!
