School’s out for summer!

And…. it’s official!  Summer has begun and we are gearing up. Our family works best with scheduled activities and plans in place.  While we’re easing into summer and toying around with how our new schedule will work, we’ve enjoyed a few outings with friends starting out our first official day of summer with a bang…. We met our friends the Sylvestres’s for a trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame.  A first for everyone.  While the history and displays were a bit mature for the kids, there was plenty to keep them busy and having fun.  It was neat to finally see what’s inside the big “epcot ball.”  With hands on fun, neat displays and friends in tow, we had a blast.  We headed home and Aiden and Chris headed out for an afternoon with Mamie, swimming, enjoying lunch and relaxing together.  Jake and I hung out at home and I took advantage of starting my weekly reporting for Mike while Jake napped.  A good day all around.  I headed to acupuncture at night and was happy to finally feel a tiny bit of a difference in my hand.

Tuesday we headed to Northwest Park for some fun with the animals and much needed energy burn on the playground.  We enjoyed catching up with our friends Ashley, Julia, Steph, Braiden, Elizabeth & Andrea and came home to soak up the sun.  It was week two of my women’s study and day two of heading out at night.  I’m thankful Mike is a good sport!

Today the boys went for Kindergarten eye screenings. High fives for good reports as Chris had received a referral at his last visit when he said he was “too tired” to keep reading.  This boy loves accessories and wants glasses.  Daddy has glasses and in his eyes, they seem fun.  Little does he know the not so fun that goes along with the responsibilities.  Today I count my blessings that they’ve inherited my vision thus far.  To celebrate and leverage the fun we can have when they behave and work together, we headed to the beach at Sunrise Park.  The sand and water were a treat for all and I’m hopeful we’ll be back soon.  Mike’s on Daddy duty again tonight as I head out for acupuncture round six.  Fingers crossed it’s another good session!

The truth is, moods have been tough.  Sassiness is at an all time high and the boys are quick to react to one another.  It’s been challenging but we’re taking one day at a time.  Time outs, privileges lost and plans rescheduled.  Count be the makings of a long summer but I’m hopeful this is a passing thing…. A quickly passing “thing!”
