This ol Momma is heading back to school and with my little man in tow, we went to check out the campus to be sure this overly anxious lady can find her way to the parking lot, let alone the right classroom. Let’s be honest here, it’s been years. To say that I am “out of practice” is being kind. I can feel my stomach flip flopping at the thought of tests and studying. I’m struggling to remember much of anything and worrying convinced I could be will be the dumbest one in class. I’m in disbelief that it’s been over 10 years since I’ve truly studied. Sure I took A & P after graduation but for some reason I feel super challenged and handicapped. Curious about what I’m up to? Me too! I’ve enrolled in Asnuntuck Community College’s fall Real Estate Practices and Principles course. I’ll be sharing my Monday and Wednesday evenings with complete strangers with the hopes that I come away from the class inspired {and [perhaps a tad bit smarter}. The class meets for 4 hours two nights a week. Mike’s anxious about bedtimes alone. I’m anxious about keeping a tidy house and staying sane as we all know that no cleaning gets accomplished and stays done while the little ones are awake. It will be a change for everyone. Exciting and nerve wrecking. So next week I begin my new journey. Just in time for Mike’s work retreat in the Berkshires and for the first time in months, there may be a beer in my hand. Or two. I promise to save it until after bedtime….
If you know me, you know I’m an over preparer. A worrier. Sometimes an attempted overachiever so it should be no surprise that I’ve started reading my text books and have been studying for the past few weeks. Makes me sound smart, right? The only problem is that I can’t remember a darn thing. Nothing….. I’m trying different study methods and thinking I may be making some small advances but only a miracle is going to help me ace pass this class!
So we visited the campus to put my mind at ease. Jake loved tagging alone. He loves being the little man on a big campus with lots of second glances and hello’s. He loved the tall windows and brick buildings but most especially he loved the cigarette butts and chewed bubble gum stuck in the cracks along the sidewalks, often going unnoticed. Oh how I love this boy.
