Thirteenth Week Appointment

First of all, thank you everyone for your messages on our blog!  I am glad that people are checking it out and that will also keep the pressure on me to keep it updated!

Last Thursday was our thirteenth week check up with the babies.  It was also our last appointment in Hadley at Women's Care.  Unfortunately we do not have new ultrasound pictures to post but we did receive good news when it was confirmed that the blood work taken last week at Baystate was all within normal ranges for both babies.... phew.  It seems that with each passing appointment, we get to breath a little easier each time.   Dr. Laughwell (what a fun name for a baby Dr., huh?)  also let me hear the babies heartbeats... or should I say the baby.  No worries but you may be wondering what I mean.  We heard a heart beat in two different places in my belly but the Dr. wasn't able to say for sure if we heard the same baby's heart beat twice or if it was two different heart beats.  He did say that it will get easier to distinguish as time goes by and the babies get bigger.  The heart beats that we did hear were within normal ranges (yeah!) and at a constant beat.  We couldn't ask for more!

So this coming week we enter into our fourteenth week.  Time really does fly and I know I will be agreeing even more in weeks to come (so don't be surprised if you read this again!!!)  We will also be switching to a Baystate practice with the hopes that we can find a Dr. to see us for our visits now who may also be able to deliver the babies.  Our current practice in Hadley only works out of the hospital in Northampton and unfortunately we can't go there because we are considered a high risk pregnancy with twins!  So... we will be meeting with the nurse on Wednesday and the Dr. on Thursday of this week.  I don't anticipate anything too eventful but I am hoping that they will let us schedule the next ultrasound to find out the sex of the babies.... yes, we are going to find out!   Mike and I went back and forth, he wanted to know the sex, I wanted to be surprised.... well, Mike won as I decided that having twins was enough of a surprise for me and at this point look forward to being as prepared as possible (if such a thing exists) until the babies arrive.  I should admit that I had a dream this week that the twins were boys.... only time will tell and I will be thrilled either way!
