Another great weekend

"Mufasa" a.k.a. Cali supervising the boys outdoor time from afar.

Our balding boys sunning themselves.
Shade to save those balding boys.... Yes, their hair is falling out and they are now resembling little old men :)

Is it Sunday night already?  Tomorrow the boys will be 9 weeks old.  We had another great week and weekend.  The boys follow up appointment with the pediatric surgeon for their circumcisions went well.  Everything is healing as it should and we are scheduled to go back again in 4 weeks for another "check." We are beginning to wonder if this could just be a ploy to get another $60 in co-pays... It is amazing how quickly the $15 and $30 co-pays add up when they are multiplied by two!

Working from home on Thursday went well.  I was able to retreat to our guest bedroom/home office to get back into the swing of things.  Grammie Hopkins kept the boys company and allowed me the opportunity to catch up a bit.  It felt good to be working again.  It is so hard to believe that I have been out of work for 8 whole weeks.  Following that, Grammie, the boys and I all went for a walk together.  This has been a GREAT week to be outside!  I have been trying to go for at least one, sometimes two walks a day.  It feels so refreshing to get some sunshine, fresh air and exercise and the boys are always good sports about tagging along and keeping me company.... not that they have a choice in the matter or anything :)

Thursday night was a landmark for Christopher although I was not there to witness it myself.  Mike and our friend Annie saw Christopher roll over twice.  Of course by the time I came in and we grabbed the video camera he had stopped his little stunt tricks :)  We have yet to see Aiden roll again but we have decided that its best not to rush it.

Friday night Chris stayed home and had some one on one time with Daddy while Aiden joined me for a girls night out.  Aiden made it to his first birthday party as we hung out at Leeanne's house to celebrate Leora's belated birthday.  Aiden did great and might even be lucky enough to be invited back again!

Friday night Mike and I decided to try what we liked to call our "experiment."  Mike slept in the guest bedroom with Aiden and I slept in our bedroom with Chris.  We were curious to see how long the boys would sleep if they weren't there to wake up one another and if we weren't there to wake them up in an attempt  to keep them on the same schedule. Right now, when one of them wakes up in the middle of the night to feed, we always wake the other up and have them eat at the same time.  To both mine and Mike's surprise, our little champ Chris made it for a 4 1/2 hour stretch and a 3 hour stretch.  I was the lucky one that got the solid 4 hours of sleep, yippee!  Mike and Aiden went for a 3 1/2 hour and 3 hour stretch.  Needless to say, we realized that if we only had one baby, we might be lucky enough to have longer bouts of sleep but we wouldn't change our sleepless nights with countless dirty diapers and man sized groans, moans and farts that erupt from the crib on a regular basis for anything in the world.

It seems as if every week I change my mind about how I want the nursery, babies clothes and closet arranged to be most efficient.  This week I had no choice but to sort through their bureau because for the first time they are outgrowing their clothes!  For as excited as we were for growth early on, I have to admit that I am now kind of sad to have to put away all of the preemie clothes in a tote, realizing that I will probably never have babies "that small" again.  We are moving up in the world and are now in newborn sizes and even some 0-3 month clothing! What an accomplishment!

So I guess we should explain more about poor Cali's hair cut.  Please do not call Animal Control on us but Cali has moved down on our list of priorities.  Four years ago at the time that Mike brought me to the MSPCA to pick out a kitten for my birthday, I couldn't help but to fall in love with the white, long haired, blue eyed cat.  Who could resist?  Mike questioned my decision about picking a long haired cat at the time but of course I had my mind made up.  At the time, I loved brushing her everyday and as embarrassed as I am to admit it, I would put baby lotion on afterward to make her smell totally lovable and to help reduce the static.  Well, here we are 4 years later with two real babies that have taken over and are rocking our world.  Poor Cali hasn't seen a comb to her hair for over 4 months and the fur was out of control.  I called Petco and made an appointment.  When asked if I wanted a "lions mane" haircut, I said no, just a shaved, low cut that would be low maintenance.  Well, Mike dropped Cali off last Wednesday night at 6 pm and was told to come back at 8.  She was going to have a full make over:  nails done and hair cut, washed and blow dried (who knew cats could be that lucky!?!) I reminded Mike that Cali was declawed so I wasn't sure how the manicure/pedicure was going to go, but he assured me that "they would figure that out."  Half way through Cali's scheduled appointment we got a phone call that she was ready to go as they didn't want to "put her through too much" because she wasn't loving life.  Well, Mike went to pick up her and came home with our little lion.  We have now renamed her Mufasa.  I think she might be starting to like her new do... I know I am because it means I can vacuum once every 3 days instead of 3 times a day!

We are so grateful for our visitors this week:  Grammie/Grandpa Hopkins, Grammie/Dziadz Pt., Auntie Laura/Tommy, Uncle Dan, Uncle Andrew, Uncle Andrew's roommate Dillan,  Auntie Sarah /Uncle Jerry, Keith/Juliet/Livia (potential girlfriend #1) Ale/Annie/Sophia (potential girlfriend #2),  & Adam /Gina.  Wow, what a week of wonderful company!
