Aiden and Christopher turned 8 weeks old on Monday. Time continues to fly by and the boys continue to change and amaze us everyday. Lately the boys have begun reaching and grabbing for objects, their favorite being hair! Just when you think that the boys want to be snugly and cuddly, you are reminded that they actually want to play as you get a firm tug on your hair!
We were all lucky to have Auntie Laura stay with us for two nights to help out and spend some time with the boys. She delved right in and offered to help with the night time feedings, giving Mike a break for the time that she was here. It was great to have her company and awesome for me to have an adult to talk to. Of course the boys never complain when there is an extra set of hands so that they can both be held and attended to at the same time. Today I am back to reality and by myself but we are working on convincing Auntie Laura that she needs to move much closer, maybe into our guest bedroom until the boys turn 18!
Last night was part 2 of my breast feeding class at Baystate. The class was 2 hours long but with drive time, Daddy was home alone with the boys for 3 hours and was ready for a vacation by the time I got home. He said he can really appreciate what the days must be like, alone with 2 kids, 2 loud and hungry mouths and only 2 hands.... I think Aiden and Chris gave Daddy a run for his money! The class was disappointing as it didn't address any of my questions which were all specific to trying to nurse two babies at one time. I didn't realize that I would be the only one in the class with twins. I also didn't realize that everyone else in the class brought their babies. I am not sure how I missed that memo but after Mike's report of three hours of testy, fussy behavior, it may have been better that they were at home so we didn't scare everyone around us
Today the boys have follow up appointments for their circumcisions to check and make sure everything healed the way it should. It will be the first time that I get the boys ready and out of the house on my own. My mom has volunteered to meet me at the Dr.'s in Springfield to help me get them in and out of their appointments. It will be wonderful to have the extra set of hands and ears because with milk brain, you never know what I may say or do to embarrass the boys!
Tonight our cat, Cali is getting a makeover. We will be torturing her with a full shave at Petco, poor kitty. I will post before and after pictures so everyone can appreciate the traumatic experience that she will be subjected to :)
Tomorrow Grammie Hopkins is coming over for a few hours to watch the boys so that I can put in a few hours of work from home. I have started giving the boys their pep talks today to be sure that they are on their best behavior while she is here!
