Thursday I worked from home for a few hours and Grammie Hopkins watched the boys again. Everything went smoothly and Grampa Hopkins came over to join us for lunch! Friday the boys had their first photo shoot! As a shower gift, we had been given the gift of a photo shoot! Myndi the photographer came over on Friday morning and spent 3 hours photographing the boys. The pics in this blog are from the shoot. Myndi also has a few more shots posted on her blog (www.MyndiBPhotography.Blogspot.com) with more to come in a few weeks. I can't wait to see them all! Typical of babies, the boys refused to give into any of mine and Mike's attempts to make them smile while Myndi was here. As a matter of fact, I think we ended up smiling more than they did... especially as Christopher decided to give me not one, not two, but three additional showers that morning! I am not sure what I owed that honor to! I think he was taking advantage of the rare occasion when they get to lounge around totally naked, diapers and all! Needless to say, I learned my lesson and unless we are looking to get naked butt shots again the boys will not lounge without diapers very long! Despite the accidents and lack of smiles, we had a great time! It is such an amazing gift to have so many special expressions and moments captured. I will be sure to share more pics as they become available.
Friday afternoon Mike and I attempted a bike ride with the boys for the first time. I was super excited to try out the new bike I got for my birthday and we were both anxious to see how the boys reacted to being in a baby "cargo" carrier of sorts. We had been given a baby trailer that attaches to the back of a bike and we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather once the rain cleared out. Without a doubt it took us twice as long to get ready as the amount of time spent riding. Mike set up the bikes and off we went, only to get about 5 minutes from our house to realize that the baby trailer needed air in the tires... bad! We quickly turned around and called it a day.
Today we decided to give the bike ride a second shot. This time, we loaded the babies into their car seats and drove to the Windsor Locks Canal bike trail. We had a wonderful time and rode the course start to finish which was 9 miles roundtrip. With our luck, as we were 3/4 of the way out, the skies opened up and a sunny shower came down upon us. Thankfully our baby trailer had a rain cover and Mike and I still had enough energy to pick up our pace and peddle quickly back to the parking lot. I think we learned our lesson and will check the hour by hour forecast next time. Despite the brief shower, the boys both quickly feel asleep which we take as a sign that they were comfortable and happy!
