On the move...

The boys are officially "on the move..." and I am not referring to Mike and I keeping them busy. Aiden and Chris are both officially rolling.... and rolling and rolling and rolling! They have discovered the ability to move from belly to back and now have mastered back to belly! They even seem to be enjoying time on their belly a bit more as a result. Mike and I must now reconsider where we put them and can not turn out backs for too long!

We had a busy but great week! Thursday we met with our friends Caroline and Mathieu for a walk. It has been a while since we had seen them so it was nice to catch up with Caroline and compare notes on the boys development and progress.

We have been so lucky with the weather lately and have been trying to take advantage because who knows how long it will last! Friday the boys and I went to Robinson State Park in Agawam with Leeanne. We went for a long walk and then had a picnic lunch. We had perfect weather and the boys really enjoyed the change of pace and I loved the visit with Leeanne. Aiden really surprised me and decided that he would much rather be on the grass than a soft, cozy fleece blanket. He did everything in his power to squirm and wiggle his way off of our blanket. Chris could have cared less about the grass and while he wasn't bothered by it, he also didn't go out of his way to squiggle and wiggle and instead spread himself out to enjoy the sunshine under our big umbrella. Later Friday night we went to dinner at our friends Steph & Phil's house. We had a good time and the boys did great until about 8 pm when they were starting to get over tired but didn't want to miss out on anything so they became cranky. That was our sign to head for home...

Chris has decided that sleeping is not on his agenda these days... not at night, not during the day and certainly not for naps! Mike jokes that he is taking after me in that he always wants to be doing something... anything... but sleeping. Unfortunately for Mike and I this has meant that he has reverted back to being up every 2 hours throughout the night. Uggh... We are open to suggestions for what to do as this is NOT a habit we are willing to put up with for long. This new phase started last Wednesday and has been going on for 5 days too long already! This has also meant that I have slipped back into my "milk brain moments." For example, on Saturday night while at my parents I was out on the back porch I said "boy, it sure smells (instead of sounds like) like it is raining." I have since been considering opening up a new fragrance line. Who knew that rain could smell :) ??!?

Saturday I talked Mike into joining the boys and I for a long walk in the morning. The boys were then able to meet Christian & Emma, their big second cousins from South Carolina for the first time! Emma and Christian are up visiting for the week and are staying with Grammie & Grandpa Hopkins. They really seemed to enjoy the babies and the boys respond so well to other kids, trying to be "cool" and impress with their smiles, grins & giggles.

Later Saturday night, Mike went to a Sox game! The entire Hopkins family was able to go and for as much as I wanted to be there as well, I knew my heart would be at home with the babies and the logistics of trying to pump at a Sox game would have put a damper in the night. Instead, I went to my parents for Auntie Laura's 31st birthday! Saturday was Uncle Dan's last night in Belchertown before heading out super early on Sunday morning to return to sunny Tampa. The boys did awesome and were even troopers about staying out much past their typical bedtime. Of course Aiden fell asleep and Chris was still bright eyed at 9:30 pm when we left. I do have to admit that it was a quiet ride home as they both fell asleep within minutes.

Today Kym came for a visit this afternoon. We had a great time catching up and decided to get out to enjoy the gorgeous weather! Kym brought Panara's for lunch which was an awesome treat and after lunch we decided to burn it off with a long walk in the sunshine. We had so much fun.

Today was Auntie Laura's official birthday. As a treat I decided to pack up a picnic dinner and Mike, Laura, the boys and I walked to the center of Suffield where we set out our blanket and ate dinner with the bugs. Despite the fact that our bodies are now one big welt with more mosquito bites than you can count, the boys managed to stay unharmed. We all had fun!

Besides the boys new found love for rolling, they are also still loving to hear their own voices and have also grown to love their "disco DJ walker" and Baby Einstein activity center. They are very entertained in them and it seems to give them a good core and neck workout. The best part is that they can't touch the ground in either so their feet dangle. It is too cute! The boys will probably be walking before their feet can touch the ground on their walkers!

Our fans this week were: Grammie/Grampa Hopkins, Grammie/Dziadz Pt., GG Mimi, Auntie Laura (do we still count her as a visitor if she lives here???), Tommy, Uncle Dan, Uncle Andrew, Caroline, Mathieu, Leeanne, Christian, Emma, Kym, Phil/Steph, Karen/Jeff/Elliot, Jenny/Adam, Courtney/Steve.

Hi Beth! Sounds like these little guys are growing up fast!! Congrats about the rolling! Sophia loved to roll too:) As for the waking up so much, Im not a professional but I would say its a growth spurt! I would give Sophia double what should would normally drink and that would help a lot! Are they 6 months yet? I think it 6 months you can start to let them cry out the night time feedings, at last one of them. Enjoy! When are we getting together? Lets talk soon!

Hey Beth!

I wonder if the little guy might already be starting teething? That meant big fussiness for Ms. Marina at that age. I also agree with the other comment about a growth spurt. Our lactation nurse always told Jessica, "Put a fussy one to breast!"

Hopefully see you next Tuesday! --Amy P.
