Chris enjoys real jingle bells!
The "free crawl"...mission to find the cat door and try to squeeze through. Thankfully they are small but not that small!
Aiden checking out the jingle bells.
The boys greet Daddy at the front door as he arrives home from work.
In case you were wondering what Cali has been up to, shes enjoying a game of hide and seek in a bag that had a Christmas present of cat nip in it... Heaven for her!
Although the cold weather and heavy winds kept us inside for much of last week, we still had a great week and started to get creative with activities to do around the house. The boys are now both very ticklish and love to be tickled and who can resist a baby laugh! They favorite spots of "weakness" are under their arms, the bottoms of their feet and of course their bellies. Even on a challenging day, a good dose of tickle torture can keep a temporary smile on their face.
Lately we have been getting daring as we like to say, letting the boys do a "free crawl." By free crawl, I mean that they have the option to explore almost the entire house. For anyone that's never been to our house, we live on a one level ranch that had a great set up for doing laps from the nursery through the hallway and into the kitchen/dining room, completing the journey back in the nursery. They love to have free roam of the house and love to explore. I do have to admit that the rumors you hear about twins or multiple babies of similar ages heading in opposite directions at all times is proving to be true for us 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time is spent madly trying to get ahold of whatever toy the other baby might have. We could have two identical toys sitting right next to one another but of course one has to be much more popular than the other! Their favorite spot to land during the free crawl is looking down the cellar stairs through the cat door as Cali, our cat, taunts safely the boys from the other side!
On Thursday night the boys got their second H1N1 vaccination so we are now officially done! Phew!!! They were troopers as the appointment kept them out past their bedtimes but they were not thrilled to get pricked. They did enjoy the other kids in the waiting room and wasted no time flirting with the 4 young girls that were eagerly playing with them!
On Friday of last week we had our friends Calvin and Megan over for a play date since it was too windy to walk. I enjoyed the company and the boys had a good time too. Friday night, I was lucky to get out to celebrate the holidays early with my friends Leeanne and Leora. It was great to see them and great to catch up. Being out with great company and great food leaves me with nothing to complain about!
On Saturday we had a very successful trip to Grammie & Grampie Hopkins where we visited for a while, wore the boys out and even found the perfect Charlie Brown Christmas tree. The tree is now proudly housed and garnished with many white lights on our back porch. I think we are all really enjoying it and it has definitely put me in more of a Christmas spirit (pictures to come soon!). As a matter of fact, I even started my holiday wrapping today! I have plenty more to keep me busy but having a jump start is a great feeling. Saturday night Grammie and Dziadz Pt. came over to watch the boys while Mike and I headed to his work Christmas party. We had a lot of fun and had a very late night! We are still recovering today and hoping to catch up on sleep tonight.
This afternoon Grammie and Dziadz stopped in for a visit before they headed out to a Kenny G concert with Auntie Laura. The boys were so exhausted from their long day of visiting yesterday with very little sleep last night that Chris was asleep by 6:30! I am not sure what that will mean for waking times tomorrow morning but as long as he is rested and cheerful, I can't complain. Aiden on the other hand was overtired but fighting it. For the first time in several months, Aiden actually feel asleep in my arms and I enjoyed every minute of it. As a matter of fact, I actually let go of my "to-do" list and enjoyed it for 30 minutes! Sadly I was reminded of how quickly they grow and how limited my chances to have a cuddle moment are so I feel in love with my baby boys all over again as I held Aiden while admiring how peaceful and handsome Christopher looked as he slept! What a priceless moment for any mom!
