Sunday afternoon we had a great visit with our friends Jen and Georgianna who were visiting from California. It has been over 6 months since we had seen them so it was great to catch up. It was also a riot to see Georgie and Christopher "exploring" one anothers lips. They were so cute and gazed so lovingly at one another. They definitely had "their moment" while Aiden was busy playing with Georgie's pink sandal. Certainly no sibling rivalry yet!
What a great start to our week! Auntie Laura had the day off on Monday and chose to spend it with us! I had been anxious to check out the zoo at Forest Park and Auntie Laura was willing to come as a second set of hands, so off we went! Aiden and Chris didn't exactly understand the idea of caged animals and wanted to be able to get inside the cages, or at last stick their hands in as far as they possibly could. Thankfully there were two eager animals, the camel and a miniature deer type creature that were happy to lick the boys fingers and make their day! I would have guessed that the monkey would have been the highlight but the boys proved me wrong! We had a great time. The zoo was very clean and had some neat exhibits. I will be excited to bring the boys back again when they are a bit older.
After the zoo, we had a picnic lunch with Auntie Laura and headed to the playground in the park for a while. Aiden and Chris were in their glory and loved watching all of the other kids. We headed home for afternoon naps and then enjoyed some play time outside before Auntie had to head home. Aiden and Chris loved their visit and did everything in their power to keep Auntie laughing! I was also in my glory because it was SO nice to have company for the day!
Today Grammie Hopkins came over and spent the morning with Chris and Aiden while I did some grocery shopping. They had a great time and from what Grammie said, they were well behaved and very entertaining. I know that I always look forward to my morning out and the boys do as well, so thank you Grammie!
If I am not busy chasing around Aiden and Chris, I am busy chasing around our cat. Good old Cali (who is declawed an only an indoor cat) decided to make a quick get away this afternoon while the boys napped. It's a good thing we don't have many neighbors because I put on quite a show chasing her this way and that way.... Fortunately for me, she is white and sticks out like a sore thumb, but fortunate for her, she is quick and kept me running.
After catching my breath from the cat catching episode, I spent much of the afternoon sorting through toys and disassembling our current play "corral." We have decided to disassemble our play area for the time being and have replaced it with a book corner and several toys baskets. I am fearful of what the house will look like at the end of the day now that the mess will not be "contained" but I am hopeful that maybe somewhere in our future, we will be able to teach the boys to clean up their own toys and having organized buckets is the first step!
Tomorrow we have a meeting with the boys physical therapist, Chris. She called today to ask if she could bring along a speech language pathologist that has just joined their group and is interested in seeing the roles that each therapist plays, so we will have two visitors tomorrow! I am excited to see what tricks and tips she may have to share with us. The boys always love visitors so it should be a fun morning and a nice break in our day!
