Serious Aiden

Stern faced Christopher (no, thats not food in his mouth unfortunately... that would be too good to be true!)

The boys snacking at their picnic table. (Mommy usually ends up eating most of the snacks lately as they boys prefer to either a) play with the food or b) feed anyone and everyone around them, EXCEPT themselves!!!)

Rain, rain go away... you keep us stuck inside all day! The colder weather and rain has certainly changed our plans this past week. Aiden and Chris are pros at opening our porch doors and were not happy campers when the rain didn't afford them the freedom to play outside as they would prefer.

On Thursday we were scheduled to meet our friends Caroline and Mathieu for a walk and time at the park but as we packed up and headed outside, the skies opened up. At this point I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that being dependant on weather.com hour by hour reports is about as smart as believing that it might be possible to reason with two very stubborn 16 month olds! Needless to say, we had a quick change of plans and headed to the play area at Enfield Square Plaza. The three boys were thrilled and Caroline and I had our work cut out for us, trying to keep up with three quick toddlers whose sole mission was to make a successful great escape out of the play zone to run down the aisles of the mall! It was a great workout for all of us!

Thursday night, I enjoyed a shopping trip with my friend Leeanne. We had a great time checking out the Holyoke Mall and as always, it was great to catch up. Shopping and good conversation is the best therapy!

On Friday our friend Karli came for our weekly occupation therapy session. She had some great suggestions to improve some of our communication challenges and I am very excited to try to implement them this week. We having been trying to do some sign language but Aiden and Chris don't seem too interested at this point. So.... we are going to make some picture magnets of foods that they enjoy and hope that we can teach them to chose a magnet and in turn, receive the food when they are hungry and possibly with a food choice that they may actually enjoy. We shall see! At this point, they eat so very little and have no interest, so.. I am open to anything!

On Saturday we had a great visit with the Gould Family and Auntie Laura. Of course the rain saga continued and shortened the time that we were able to spend outside, but we still had fun none the less. We packed up the four boys and headed to Northwest Park. For the adults the most exciting part was the small wedding that occurred under a tree by a pond in the pouring rain. It was about as simple as it gets - the husband and wife and a justice of the peace but the looks they were giving each other were looks of such adoration and true love. It was very touching! I would say the highlight for the boys was the playground. They really do have something for everyone. Aiden and Chris of course chose to swing for as long as they could until we needed to give someone else a turn! Even despite the steady sprinkles, we played as long as we could until the sprinkles turned into down pour and we raced to the cars! We had a great visit and the boys LOVE watching older kids in action!

Last night Mike and I were scheduled to go to the Red Sox game in Boston. Mike got two tickets for his birthday but with the weather we were having and the predicted forecast we decided that we weren't going to chance a long car ride for a rainy, possibly canceled game.... SO, it was a great game but we relaxed at home and watched it while we were warm and dry! The boys were even going to have special babysitting dates. Christopher was disappointed that his date with Auntie Steph was cancelled and Aiden was bummed that he wasn't going to have some two on one time with Grammie and Dziadz. Instead they were stuck hanging out with Mom, Dad and Auntie Laura.

Today we packed up early and headed to Belchertown. Mike, Aiden and Chris hung out with Grammie & Dziadz while I headed over to help out with a baby shower for a friend. The shower was gorgeous and it was a lot of fun to help out and be involved. Not a detail was missed! Meanwhile, the boys LOVED their time outside and went for hike and some outdoor exploration with Daddy and Dziadz. They also loved all of the special food treats that Grammie was preparing and of course love the free roam that they have and know just what to do when they get to Grammie & Dziadz's - they head straight for the toys!

Well I am off to do some laundry and hope for an early bedtime! Here's to a hopeful week of sunshine!
